ESEE Junglas Survival Fixed Blade Knife vs SOG Field Knife

I will update this review following 5/17/21, thanks for reading before then. I am testing this and an El Chete for more forestry work.

My first moment of opening this its sturdy so far. This item got delivered before the recommended Delivery Date.

They're not just throwing junk together and collecting a paycheck. The blade is thick and very strong and comes out of the box sharp enough to shave your arm hair. It pulled the hair a little but with a handful of passes on my spyderco sharpmaker it was smooth and just rolled the hair off! This thing is scary sharp for being as big as it is. The handles are beautiful and offer great grip

Now the knife. I bought this for self defense, if ever needed it'll do the job intended. It doesn't come very sharp and in my opinion doesn't sharpen very well. Handle feels nice in the hand for intended purpose

always a plus. The handle is the most comfortable design ive ever held, even though it could be longer by a half an inch. (I have large hands) The rubberized handle is very grippy, and a joy to work with. At 30 bucks its a true bargain ! SOG ! if youre listening, please take this exact design and enlarge it to a 5 and a half or 6 inch blade, with the handle expanded to 5 or 5 and a half inches

With the paracord lanyard stoutly fixed to my Junglas, I had no trouble retaining possession of this valuable tool that fits so perfectly in my day pack. The nearly razor-sharp edge on the Junglas held up to any abuse I inflicted on it including but not limited to paring large boulders. This is my tool of choice for rough going along with my favorite shoulder weapon, the CZ 550 American Safari Magnum express rifle chambered in Gibbs .505

Had this Knife almost (1) year. Have not used it for any outdoor/ bush/ camping activities yet so can't rate on that. Just been sitting in my Diving Backpack and considering to use it in my Diving activities but don't know if the steel will hold up (won't rust). At 1st glance, the knife feels like it's a Young Boy's knife (still feel that way)

You'll barely put out $40, but you'll get a good sheath (a tad funky with the snaps, but still quite good), a good carbon steel blade, a good handle, and lots of money saved. Yes, I'd actually suggest that over the RTAK II..

The blade is dull so get yourself a good sharpening stone to hone the blade. For the price, it's a good knife but the sheath is still very important.

Haven't had opportunity to take out for any real dirt time (week long camping trip (coming soon) will resolve that) but came razor sharp (literally) with excellent fit and finish. Decent enough sheath , being default-and-all. Will probably be giving another star if dirt time corroborates this beast 's reputation.

I love the sheath. The retention is perfect. The knife stays firmly in place and it's quick and easy to deploy. Doesn't feel stuck like some Schrades do with similar sheaths
