The camera does a good job (usually) of following the action, but occasionally winds up in an awkward position. The game telegraphs attacks with a clear wind up, and a "spidey sense" haze around Spider-Man to signify that he’s in danger. Still, a lock-on would have been a welcome addition, particularly when you’re fighting heavies or bosses with many minions. It never feels unfair, but I would have preferred more manual control of what I target in a fight

This game is challenging you will die a lot but if you have patience, take time to farm xp from weaker enemies and buy & upgrade weapons and magic when possible and learn enemy's strategies and attack patterns you will be able to beat them.

Haven't played for more than several hours so far, but I'm loving it. The initial hours are a bit difficult to get used to gameplay wise, but I'm already noticing a slight improvement in my ability to control Spidey both in terms of movement and in combat. It feels a bit clunky at first (at least it did to me) and I was and still am fairly bad at the combat portion especially but there is a natural progression of actual player skill that happens here and it's exciting. The web swinging, overall traversal, and even combat mechanics are increasingly feeling better and better and my enjoyment is rising in tandem with this

But then, which direction do you dodge? Often, the enemies have obscenely long reach. Which brings us to another classic FromSoftware gimmick: Rolling toward the enemy. It's the same thing with every single boss. No matter what the particular boss or the attack is, the solution is virtually always the same: Roll toward it, at just the right time

+ Villains are brilliant (great mix of the old, tried and tested Spiderman villains that you know and love, along with some great new villains that you've never seen before). + Some of the best writing ever for a PS4 game (Peter Parker's trademark banter is alive and well during combat, providing some genuinely laugh out loud moments). + Webslinging through New York is a lot of fun. + Voice acting is tremendous (Peter Parker, J Jonah Jameson, and Otto Octavius in particular are standouts)

- Many mobs will chain cast spells, constantly interrupting anything you do, while you watch them kill you. - Mobs have extreme reach with their weapons, while you have very little. Often, I find myself standing right next to large mob and unable to hit it with my sword at all. The swings just don't connect

I have no idea how to get gold on those, so I won't be able to afford some of the suits. But I do plan on cleaning up the city to reach as close to 100% as I can.
