Osprey Exos 48
Getting an Osprey Aether plus 60 for my first pack. Good or bad?
Looking at the specs, I see a number of things that add weight in ways that the user can't do anything about: e.g., ice axe loops (don't need for 3-season trips), trekking pole attachment (never use these), included raincover (don't want to carry the weight unless there's rain in the forecast). So all in all it seems to me that this pack is overly heavy for its size, and comes with all sorts of unnecessary bells and whistles that you're forced to carry whether you want to or not.

eBags Haswell Laptop Backpack Review (Initial Thoughts)
If you want to try to show you it's a little difficult. If you want to, you know, have a taller thing in here like maybe like a lunch box or something and yeah there, you have it it's a pretty simple bag. This is the Haswell laptop bag from eBags

Shoulder StrapsThe Exos 48 has unique shoulder straps made of layered mesh and remains comfortable as the pack becomes fully loaded. The shoulder straps have convenient mesh pockets that hold smaller items. LidThe Exos 48 lid has a zippered underside, perfect for toiletries and sometimes-needed items, and a small top compartment with a built in key clip

Revised hipbelt is a DISASTER
This is the 4th (maybe 5th) Osprey Exos I have purchased dating back to the original model. It has gone through at least 3 revisions and the hipbelt on this new model is a disaster. It's bad enough they eliminated the hipbelt pockets but I could live with that. When I received and tried it on I imme...
