DreamSky Compact Digital Alarm Clock vs RCA RCD30

This clock is good looking and compact. I especially like the continuously variable brightness level you set with an analog rotary dial. Overall verdict: This clock is a winner!

That way, whether setting the alarm, or even the time, you just have to move the switch all the way up for lock. There's no trying to make sure the switch is in the middle position and it's not pushed a little too far. If it were pushed a little too far (into the time set position (all the way up)), one would never know it, as there would be nothing to indicate so. It's just a bad design with the switch layout

If you like small and compact, this is really a well-made alarm clock. See my picture comparing it to its big brother (DS306).

Controls are "ok." The alarm on/off switch is in the back, which is a little less convenient. Big sleep bar on top, the usual 9 minute sleep delay that most clocks have. There's no way to easily see what time your alarm is set to (my old clock allowed you to simply push the alarm button and the alarm time would flash on the display while you held the button down)

Very very simple setting. The alarm is very similar. hold and press alarm set and we're using this time indicator down here. So I'm waking up at 6 00 ...

I also actually prefer that this clock doesn't have a thermometer or 'weather features,' and doesn't have a radio, and doesn't have other 'cute additions.' There are times when I want a gizmo to only do its core function, and nothing more. So that's something else that offsets the low-cost aggravations listed above, too.

Originally purchased November 2019. This was my review then. The time display was much bigger than what I wanted. Recently my cable company forced me to upgrade to a different cable box - the old one had a digital time display - the new one DOES NOT

This alarm is about perfect for our needs. We just wanted a small alarm (this is about the smallest one I've seen), with large numbers (this is about as big as they get) that does not give off too much light (most other LED screens/numbers are too bright if you want a dark room to sleep in). I gave it 4 stars because the build feels a bit cheap. Sony has an alarm at a similar price point that feels a little better made
