 No enemy drops any ammo unless you chainsaw them. The total amount of ammo you can carry is extremely low to start and unlike 2016, there is no infinite pistol. Also, unless you have bloodpunch active, melee doesn't kill enemies either even though you have a giant knife on your wrist. You will find yourself dying many a' death because you simply ran out of ammo

 Get a gun mod, upgrade it. Get argent upgrade your suit. Do a run trial, get a reward. Straight-forward

 Having finished the campaign on Hurt Me Plenty, I am going back through it on Ultra-Violence and feel I can give an apt review. *Havent played any multiplayer yet so cant really comment*  The Good:  Graphics- Updated a bit from 2016 but essentially the same. New monsters and a few tweaks to the old one as well as fan favorites from the original 90s Doom which is fantastic. The scenery is cool and adds to the ambiance, but there really isn't much time to enjoy it since you're constantly doing triple-double axles to get from one place to another (see Level design below

I feel like I'm mostly alone in my opinion on Doom Eternal in that it is inferior to 2016 in nearly every way, the story being by far the worst casualty. The subtle story elements of 2016 are now replaced with flashbacks and third-person cutscenes and atrocious writing.

Is it just me or is Doom Eternal's story poorly told? 

I really enjoyed the Doom 2016 reboot's single player. While it's story was a little silly, it at least made sense from start to finish and I wasn't ever really confused by my character's motivation or what to do next.

I just started Doom Eternal, and from the start I have no clue what is going on. I'm revived, and immediately thrown in to start killing demons (which is fine), but it culminates in me killing some random priest that I've never met and don't really know anything about. And the story just rolls on from there - I travel between dimensions chasing after something about a betrayer and a king and an entire different world that is never really explained clearly. Granted, I'm maybe only 10% through the whole story, but I have no idea what's going on. I even replayed the intro a couple times to see if I missed some movie or background, but no dice.

Am I missing something here?

Doom Eternal Story Mode?

 Doom Eternal however is a different beast altogether.  First the good. When it's good and firing on all cylinders, Doom Eternal is an absolute BLAST. In fact, there are moments in this game that outshine even the best parts of its predecessor

Excessively over-the-top difficulty makes for a very unbalanced play experience.

I thought Doom Eternal was a gorgeous game.  I found myself looking at the wall textures more than a few times.

When I see screenshots of it, my brain convinces itself this is what Half Life 2 looked like, since the asset design is the same, just much higher quality.

Half-Life Alyx is incredibly realistic at times

 But some genius there at Valve decided to make the most convoluted, invasive and frustrating interface ever conceived in the world of gaming!!! Can I simply click the Half Life 2 icon for the GAME I PAID FOR and play? NOOOOOOO! I have to go through some online nonsense called Steam. One day I click the icon and I have the option to play in "offline mode"; the next day I can't play because Steam won't let me. What were these people thinking!? I have uninstalled the game and have loaded up an old copy of GTA Vice City.

"Steamed" over Half-Life 2

 No way am I paying $55 for a game and don't really own it. Very stiff rental fee. I'll buy no more Valve/Steam products.
