The three-axis gimbal is built out of the same sturdy polycarbonate as its predecessor and is available in gray or a pinkish shade of white. In addition to the gimbal, there&rsquo;s also an attachable tripod, a dust bag, and a USB-A-to-USB-C charging cable in the box.

 DJI has added up to 3x zoom support with tracking, and cut latency down to 5ms for smoother results. It&rsquo;s a minor but noticeable update that improves your overall video quality.

All that said, the OM 5 does an excellent job with video. The three-axis stabilization is based on the same concept DJI uses for its drones, Ronin gimbals, and earlier OM models, but the company improved the software this year, and the difference is noticeable. There are far fewer jerks and shakes than we experienced with the OM 4. The extension rod adds to the experience

 We found the feature to be a mixed bag. You'll get better Panorama results with an iPhone; on our Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, we saw warped distortion using the DJI app, absent from panoramas made with the phone's camera app. 

DJI OM 5 Review

 Strike one. The magnetic clip doesn't fit around the case. Strike two.  I tried doing some basic crane & sweep up shots

 They get 100% done and then fail.  The G6 Max is clearly a much stronger gimbal. And it can support much larger cameras. If you have a larger phone in a case, you may find the OM5 is just not up to the task (as I did), and then you'll need to step up to one of these larger gimbals

 Due to the design of the case, the phone has to be pushed over a bit off-center. The OM5 constantly complained that the phone was off balance. Strike one. The magnetic clip doesn't fit around the case

 It's not used with the OM4 but it looks classy as hell! DJI really has to step up its game to make the OM5 better than the current version!

I have an S21 Ultra with Otterbox Defender case. The clip will not fit over the case. Well, you can put it on but it's flexing and will not lay flat against case. It also rubs the handle side of the gimble in vertical mode, unusable

Thanks to its smaller battery, fewer ports and refined design, the DJI OM 5 is 100g lighter than the OM 4, and when folded up, fits in a large pocket without too much trouble (provided you don&rsquo;t mind part of it poking out).&nbsp;

The first eye-catching aspect of the OM 5 is its look and feel. If the Osmo Mobile 3 and DJI OM 4 look like angry Autobots, the DJI OM 5 looks like it was heavily inspired by a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones. Available in Sunset White and Athens Grey, even the colors look more luxurious than last year&rsquo;s industrial grey options.

Out of all the gimbals (or selfie sticks) we&rsquo;ve tested, the OM 5 is without a doubt the best looking option available. While extending the stick can feel a touch clunky, the look and feel is as refined as gimbals get.&nbsp;

All things said and done, it&rsquo;s a great addition to the line, but it's not necessarily the best choice for everyone. The DJI OM 4 will remain on sale, but won't be manufactured anymore, so could be worth picking up if you don't need the extending arm. But the OM 5 sits alongside it for anyone who needs a turbo-charged, gimbal-stabilized selfie stick &ndash; and in that role, it's the best option around.

 In one small backpack I have this gimbal, a mavic air 2 and misc filters and I shoot amazing pro quality content. Dji has made that all possible. I’m not affiliate or paid by them. I just really appreciate their gear and think they do in excellent job

  Another point to bring up is to learn the modes and buttons. Figuring out the features and limits of each mode will help a lot. These gimbals are turn key and can get great content right out of the box but the difference between good and great content is practicing a little bit and getting to know your gimbal. Little things like proper settings, smooth body movement and shot planning can really help

 Hold the motor that goes up and down and then balance the phone so it does not drop to the left or right and stays level on its own. That the only adjustment you can make on this simple gimbal and it’s very important. I believe a lot of people complaining of vibration are not doing this. It’s really easy to want just put on the back plate and stick it to the gimbal and power on but balancing is important step

Item received was suppose to be BRAND NEW, however had black marks around the gimble joints which indicated to me that this item was not brand new and happen to be in use before. The pictures might not do it any justice. However the marks are apparent.

 Connecting something to the Lightning port (such as an external microphone) is doable, but the proximity of the gimbal’s arm sometimes prevents this depending on the angle the phone is relative to the arm. Workable, but not 100% doable at all times. Overall, I would select this gimbal over others. Tried the Hohem, and it felt fragile compared to this DJI

What we like: The model is very adept at performing basic gimbal tasks.

What we don't like: The software is subpar, particularly when it comes to in-app color accuracy.

 I can do this manually with the Zhiyun and use more professional apps instead of Hohem's app. Now, I do miss the iSteady V2 AI sensor but I'll take quality and comfort over the Hohem anyday. I just didn't see the iSteady V2 as being a long term gimbal. For kids, families and TikTok videos I get it, but not for more professional long-term use

 The clamps are absolutely perfect and can hold my phone with the case and most importantly, it's super easy to insert and remove my phone.  The iSteady V2 has got some nice features in the app with Moments but are kind of gimmicky IMO. I can do this manually with the Zhiyun and use more professional apps instead of Hohem's app. Now, I do miss the iSteady V2 AI sensor but I'll take quality and comfort over the Hohem anyday

It's just kind of ho-hem

I have been using this gimbal for the first time in my iohone14pro max and its not at all fitting. The phone is not at all rotating after you fit it in the Gimbal. I tried to call the customer care and sent them emails but nothing is helpful. If you are buying heavy phone like iphone14promax, S22ultra then its a complete No NO guys
