DJI Mini 2 vs Skydio 2+

Essentially the VPN was hiding my identity and then causing restrictions. Something so simple but nobody had stated anywhere that flying with VPN’s would be so problematic

I’m not a fan of gatekeeping any hobby, especially when the bar for entry is as simple as going to Best Buy for DJI. You mentioned price, and while it may seem expensive for a hobby, a DJI Mini 2 is as much as a current generation game console. So I don’t really consider that valid. And while your concern for crashing is a very legitimate one, I can also buy a Peg Perego Polaris for $400, which my four year old can drive off into traffic if I wasn’t careful

On the plus side, Skydio has cut the cost of entry for the 2+. The Skydio 2 went on pre-sale for $999, but a price increase made it a $1,349 drone after it entered the market. The 2+ drops the cost of entry down to $1,099 for a Starter Kit, much closer to the drone's original asking price. The Starter kit is pretty basic—you get the drone, one battery, charging cables, and a slim zippered case

The camera on the Mini 2 blows my Canon EOS 70D *Out-of-the-Water* as far a picture/video quality having the ability to record in 4K at 30 fps and 4x zoom telephoto. The DjI app is feature ladened where you can edit and upload your videos or images directly to social media while out in the field, one button *Return to Home* function using GPS, video transmission up to 6.2 miles (10km) using DJI'a OcuSync 2.0 and so much more

The camera isn't as good as I would like for photography purposes - but it still seems like an upgrade to the mini 2. Also has very good object tracking and following features.
