I purchased and received my DJI Mini 2 back in November 2020 and the first few days were great, it’s flew as should and I was a loving my new hobby.

After the initial few day my unit started to become limited tot he distance and altitude it was able to fly. It would stop at 90ft altitude and 160ft distance.

Essentially the VPN was hiding my identity and then causing restrictions. Something so simple but nobody had stated anywhere that flying with VPN’s would be so problematic

 The controller lasts a while. One thing to be careful about is the program drains your phone battery quickly. I have an iPhone 13 and I lose 10%-15% during a 20 minute flight session. The controller does have built-in phone charging

Drone is great when you get a working unit. Battery life is shorter than advertised

0 has been rock solid ever since and I haven't had any issues with my signal successfully pushing the drone more than four kilometers away during my range test. and for my regular flying, I never go that far anyway. So even flying in urban areas has been very successful experience for me, so I really haven't had any issues ever since that first negative impression. So all in all, this drone definitely steps up very massively from the Dji Mini one the original one which has been pretty bad in terms of range and now I definitely feel a lot more comfortable pushing this drone a little bit further away even in urban areas and I can still rely on the signal strength

 Of course if you are pixel peeping or you are comparing two images side by side you will see some differences, but that's not the point. The point is that the 4k quality is not only good enough I would say is just just as good as any other Dji drone from the middle section of their lineup. and I'm just fine with the quality. I wouldn't say it's bad, of course I wouldn't use it at nighttime for example, but when you have plenty of light, the quality is just great

 The 4k quality of the Mini 2 is absolutely perfect for your daily needs and uploading videos on Youtube and I think many people will have trouble identifying this drone. Compared to let's say a Mavic Air 2 or even the Mavic 2 Zoom for example, you will have trouble identifying which drone is which the camera is that good. Of course if you are pixel peeping or you are comparing two images side by side you will see some differences, but that's not the point. The point is that the 4k quality is not only good enough I would say is just just as good as any other Dji drone from the middle section of their lineup

 Usually you have a guaranteed flight time of about 25 minutes depending on how much sport mode you're using, how much wind there is, and what you do with the drone itself. But in my tests for the most part, 22 23 minutes is what I usually get with this drone depending on how I fly, which is pretty good for me and also keeping in mind how small the drone is and being able to keep up with the bigger drones like the Mavic Air 2 or the Mavic 2 pro. I think this is pretty great and I really don't have that many things to complain about when it comes to the Dji Mini 2 because it's quite the perfect drone in this segment. For the price you pay, you get a lot of features, you get the 4k quality, you get the stabilization, you have the great range and the battery life, and there aren't many things that are missing on this drone you have to keep in mind

 I mean, that's crazy. I just can't find any words to describe this better. It is absolutely stunning to have a high-res 4k camera built into this miniature drone model. You get the maximum video quality from a miniature drone

Im new DJI but have been flying and building drones for years. Now being able to afford DJI drones Im so amazed at how good the experience is its basically everything I was looking for. The ease of  Plug and play setup and the best and clearest signals and range, and most advanced safety features and flight assists. Im in love with my DJI drones.

That being said the ammount of people buying these and flying them unsafely is actually a little scary just judging on posts ive read here recently. Just the past few days reading the crashed/ lost drone posts here its 99% user NEGLIGENCE. Legit people flying illegally in really unsafe conditions. All it takes is one idiot to crash into a bus or cause a major accident im suprised it hasnt happened yet. 

What can be done to stop some idiot with more money than sense from ruiming the hobby by getting more restrictions in place?

The ammount of crashes lost drones due to user Negligence here is scary

 The phone now sits on top of the controller and it’s way easier to use. Unlike before, you don’t have to be worried if you have a case on your phone, either. 

 Most people don’t go through the hassle of learning about and using ND filters, but I wish it was an option for the few of us who do invest more time in the filming process. 

In December 2020, the Trump administration added DJI to a commerce blacklist, citing ties to the Chinese government. The filing accuses the company of enabling “wide-scale human rights abuses within China through abusive genetic collection and analysis or high-technology surveillance.” It has been reported that DJI has provided drones to the Chinese government for use in surveilling brutal prison camps in the Xinjiang province.

One thing you should keep in mind is where you want to show your photos and in which format and size. Personally, I probably wouldn’t make large prints out of most of these photos, but I’d post almost all of them on my Instagram grid. And if you’re still not satisfied with the JPGs, you can always edit the RAW files separately and see how far you can push it in post.

To really make them quiet DJI and other brands need to add insulation material around motors - I even saw a youtube video where owner of DJI Mini 2 used a small patches of self adhesive sound absorbing foam material around motors and it did noticeably quiet down the Mini 2. High pitch buzzing noise was gone. That together with redesigned blades if they existed (that are thicker and will turn with lower rpm's) will make Mini 2 a lot quieter. 

Unfortunately companies are not investing yet to make quiet drones. That will come for sure as market expands. Noise comes from motors itself and from blades. There is a set of "quieter" blades for Mini 2 (sold on amazon for about $19), but it's only marginally quieter (barely noticeable difference), so not worth the trouble imho

My fairly new dji mini 2 is louder than I’d hoped. When at 370 ft I can still clearly hear the drone when moving, it’s quieter in idle. After hearing about how quiet this drone is online I’m wondering if mine has any issues. What I’m trying to ask if this volume is normal?

Mini 2 loud

  The weight is so light! And the control is so fine and stable. Myself and my kids are always excite when we turn it on for fly runs!  I would recommend it to anyone who wish to start with drone.

For $50 more than the first version, the DJI Mini 2 is a better entry-level drone, and our Editors' Choice winner.
