 Hands down, the best value is the Mavic Air 2. I stress value since the other drones arguably have more capabilities but I am a casual flyer; not a professional or for profit flyer.  For a quick rundown, the issues with the Spark are its short flight time. It seems every time I just got into flying, it was time to change the battery

I've owned a DJI Spark since 2017 and was in the market to upgrade. I considered the Autel Evo II, Skydio 2, Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic Air 2. Hands down, the best value is the Mavic Air 2. I stress value since the other drones arguably have more capabilities but I am a casual flyer; not a professional or for profit flyer

Great upgrade from Spark and good starting drone for beginners

 But that's a really long flight time for one battery and these batteries are not that big which is great if you're out on the go and you only want to take two. You get almost an hour of flight time, which is more than enough for most occasions even when I'm out doing stuff like this. The next great thing about this thing is The half-inch sensor right here. The half-inch sensor gives you a lot of really good image quality, especially when you're filming in 4k

 Pro In every situation I've thrown, including pretty high winds like up to 25 30 miles an hour, it's had no problem. In fact, right where we're sitting, I'm sitting down on the ground behind a big rock because there's about a 30 mile an hour wind that I've been. But everything I Filmed today, this drone has had no prob at all. Another great thing that I'm so glad DJI upgraded from the original navigator was putting Aki Sync 2

 First, let's talk about the strengths of this drone. One of the best things about this is that it has a 34 minute flight time was what DJI says, but realistically, it's closer to about 27 to 29 minutes depending on how you fly it. But that's a really long flight time for one battery and these batteries are not that big which is great if you're out on the go and you only want to take two. You get almost an hour of flight time, which is more than enough for most occasions even when I'm out doing stuff like this

 Impressively good video. The only place where the Mavic 2 Pro probably does a little better is in very low light, but I've been surprised at how well this does in low-light even on its own on photo quality. It gives you 48 megapixel photos because of the way the sensor in here is designed. It's a quad bayer sensor, so it gives you essentially four times the 12 megapixel, but it gives you four times that for the photos

Mavic Air 2 Review: It's Great but...

 Reaching near 6 miles might be possible in a perfectly flat and clear area. I flew it 1400m (4900ft) away before it lost reception-I think It could have gone further if I had not let the drone fly in area with a portion of the mountain obstructing my view. I will test this more in the future. 11

 Cannot fly in restricted zones-period. So, no flying in your apartment if your home is within a restricted zone. 6. It maybe capable of recording 4k @ 60fps but only 30fps when in HDR 7

 lol. 8. It has a fixed aperture-Thankfully a f/2.8 (con and a pro I suppose); I think there is a way to control shutter speed and ISO

 I have used hyperlase a handful times, but cannot find 8k option. 5. Cannot fly in restricted zones-period. So, no flying in your apartment if your home is within a restricted zone

 It allows you to move the drone as it lowers to land. It will stop and hover at a safe distance from landing site and prompt you to initiate final landing procedure. When your happy with where it will land, just press okay on the prompt and it will drop softly to the ground. really intuitive

I do not regret buying it. :D I get excited to use it and beginning to love it.

 The phone clamp does a much better job. The phone really feels attached to the controller. (Yes you can shake it and your phone won't fall out). One of my favorite features of the new controller is the quick button trigger for photos

First off, the package arrived exactly when it said it would. I opened the box and was blown away by just how much fit in that tiny bit protective little bag. I bought this used because the shipper had listed it at quite a discount. My hat is off to the seller, the drone and all batteries looked basically brand new! The charger even still had the plastic on it! DJI truly is amazing! It was a bit difficult to get set up, but after that WOW! I have 7 other drones but this is my first DJI

1 year update: Drone and photos are awesome, but the batteries keep getting worse! They have a chip in them to make them discharge, and keeps a record of how many times they have been charged. I hate picking up the drone, only to find that the batteries are at 50% or less, after only a few days from being 100% charged! They are designed to only allow xxx amount of re-charges. Guess this is their way of making you purchase mor $100.00 batteries

  6 month update: After hours of flight time, the only real complaint I have is the battery life. Fully charged you get 25-30 minutes, but if they've been sitting around for a week, you get 10-15 minutes at best. The batteries automatically deplete themselves over a period of several days to around 50-60%. The camera is great, video great, new update with zoom and obstacle avoidance is a great improvement, but the batteries draining is a big issue

 #2 and My biggest issue is with the batteries. You will NEVER get 30 minutes of flying time if you do not fly immediately after charging the batteries. After being fully charged and stored in the case, a week later the batteries are down to a 50%-60% charge. The longer you wait to fly it, the more the batteries will automatically discharge

, due to its weight. If you don't want to have to register your drone, look at the Mini. Otherwise, it's $5 for a 3-year registration that covers all applicable drones. -4k-60fps doesn't work with tracking modes, but if you're shooting 4k-60, you're probably flying manually anyway for those buttery slow-motion shots

 -Fantastic image quality. 4k-30fps with HDR video really shines and allows for professional-quality cinematic shots even without post-processing. The included ND filters are a nice touch for those days when the sun is being a pest. Still images are also crystal clear and very high definition

  Notable pros: -Price. At the time of this writing, the Mavic Air 2 with Fly More Combo is $789, which is actually cheaper than the regular Air 2 without the combo. Even the regular price of $988 is very reasonable with everything that comes in the Fly More package. -Obstacle avoidance sensors (front, back, and bottom) work extremely well for most objects

Best bang-for-buck for most UAV needs

  The new controller is nicely streamlined. It appears to have joined the phone holder and antennae into one piece, which is great. It’s easier to install the phone on the new controller than the previous models because the controller clamps down on the sides of the phone that don’t have the lightning connector. I also appreciate the iPhone being placed above the controller

 They’ve put a new sensor into the Mavic air 2. The quad bayer chip is an upgrade from previous sensors. I think this may not help the resolution so much as the camera’s ability to see a wider range of light and dark. HDR mode is one of the benefits of the quad bayer sensor

 Right away, when I turned it on, I saw that there were planes heading my way. Frankly, if I’m flying a mile away—which I have with this drone—knowing all the hazards around me is essential. I don’t want to endanger people and I don’t want to lose a drone that I’ve spent good money on.  Overall, I think this drone is a good choice for shooters who need a quick and small drone but don’t have the resources for a bigger drone like the inspire 2

 I’ve flown it probably 8 times so far and have a few things to report. Right out of the box, two things occurred to me. This is a smaller mavic pro with some nice enhancements. The bag that it comes with is well designed and the whole package fits nicely in a smaller space

If you don’t want to spend as much for the mavic 2 pro, this is a great alternative

Hey y'all . So ive been testing out the Mini 2 for a little over a month and while its been nothing less then a ton of fun, I’m thinking this RPAS is not for me as someone wanting to get into aerial photography. After evaluating the Mini 2 i’ve determined I want:

\- Atleast 45 mins. battery as opposed to 30 mins

\- Collision avoidance. I want to fly and film in tight spaces and ive ha to replace some rotor blades on the mini 2 ive been lucky enough to borrow and evaluate . I need to be able to have this guy auto land or have it manually flown by me all while  detecting and avoiding obstacles/collisions. Sometimes i want to fly inside or at human height level and i don't want the drone crashing into the wall if something expected happens 

\- Object tracking . I want to be able to track something on the ground (or in the air) and have the drone follow and film it, all while detecting and avoiding obstacles that are both fixed and variable. Meaning it will avoid  everything from the fridge, to the cabinet, kitchen table , a person or even an animal pass by. Short of a human abruptly attacking the drone it should be able to identify and avoid colliding while still tracking a photographic subject

\- Trying to keep it under $1500CAD

So what are my options folks?  And am i missing something or does it seem like DJI is the only real player in this game ? Everywhere I look all I see is DJI  if the drones look any good and are not those cheapo kids grade ones that go for $100.   I did see one drone at Costco for around $300 which was interesting cuz it doesnt appear to be a cheap one but i’ve never heard of it before. What would you all look at for yourself/recommend to a rookie entering into this scene. Ok i lied a bit. Im not exactly a rookie at Ariel photography. Im a pilot of fixed wing, manned aircraft (Cessna 172) and ive been mounting my gopro externally and getting sick airplane shots for 3 years now. Im just new at this drone stuff as of about a month ago.

Starter Drone for an aspiring commercial drone photographer

 Now, I mean, no disrespect to Parrot, but the controller feels weak. it's toy like and the plastic feels kind of cheap. It would be nice to see Skydio redesigning their own controller, bringing it closer to something that's a little bit beefier and hopefully has an even better transmission signal quality to the drone. Next, in our future theories, I expect Skydio to redesign the physical structure in their next Consumer Model release

 The Two Plus boasts drastically improved range as well as a new waypoints feature called keyframe. I see both of these as important innovations, but it would still be nice to see them taken even further from the research I've done. The keyframe feature is very similar to Dji waypoints and like anything, it'll take some time to get used to, but it's nice to see it built into future models. The new range update boasts up to six kilometers of transmission signal, which I believe is probably only possible with the beacon, but still an upgrade to the transmission signal overall is definitely necessary

 The quality of the transmission signal from the app on your mobile device or whatever you're using to see what the drone sees while flying is simply not good. Now, I understand that this is only connected via your phone's Wi-fi but the image is still kind of soft and really, the transmission signal range is very short in a wide open environment. You've got about 200 meters or 650 feet maximum before you do start to see that Image quality which is already relatively soft, begin to disintegrate, and eventually you will lose connection completely. Now, the quality of this signal does get stronger when you're utilizing the controller, and even better still when you got the beacon, But still

Skydio 2 | Should I Buy the Skydio 2? Honest Review from a Pro Drone Pilot

On the plus side, Skydio has cut the cost of entry for the 2+. The Skydio 2 went on pre-sale for $999, but a price increase made it a $1,349 drone after it entered the market. The 2+ drops the cost of entry down to $1,099 for a Starter Kit, much closer to the drone's original asking price. The Starter kit is pretty basic&mdash;you get the drone, one battery, charging cables, and a slim zippered case

 Skydio is calling this KeyFrames, a term familiar to video editors and computer animators. The drone can fly along this path, hitting the camera angles you want, all on its own, all while avoiding obstacles.

The flight battery is also updated. The original Skydio 2 promised 23 minutes of flight time under ideal conditions, but our field testing showed it to be closer to 18 minutes in reality. The new 2+ battery extends flight times to up to 27 minutes on paper, so we'd expect this one to break the 20-minute mark in real-world flights.
