DJI Mavic 3 vs DJI Mini 2

Pluses for me are the size and portability. I have been transporting tons of gear with me for years so It's not really a hassle but if I wanted to go out to the woods or something hulking around my Inspire or M600 is a definite NO thanks! Yes the image quality is infinitely better the Mavic 3 but sometimes I do like to chill with a Air2s or Autel Evo 6k.

Also you have zero control over photos and videos on the zoom lens. Auto only mode and JPG only. Maybe fixable in a firmware update? Also, you can't do a full 1x-28x or vice versa smoothly, at one or two points the recording blacks out (while switching lenses?) It is also near impossible to zoom with your finger on the app and do other things smoothly (especially if you have a hood on your tablet), which is the only way to do it unless you shelled out the extra 1200 for the “pro” controller. 5) Gimbal rubs against arms when folded up 6) No dual controller support (maybe this could be a firmware update?) Essentially the VPN was hiding my identity and then causing restrictions. Something so simple but nobody had stated anywhere that flying with VPN’s would be so problematic

This may be controversial here but as a working professional drone operator, the Mavic 3 cine model and combo is not overly priced for what you get. I wish I could have gotten rid of the bag from the combo though. As soon as this drone gets to me it’s going straight into a pelican case and I’m going to sell that bag to off set the cost of the pelican case.

I’m not a fan of gatekeeping any hobby, especially when the bar for entry is as simple as going to Best Buy for DJI. You mentioned price, and while it may seem expensive for a hobby, a DJI Mini 2 is as much as a current generation game console. So I don’t really consider that valid. And while your concern for crashing is a very legitimate one, I can also buy a Peg Perego Polaris for $400, which my four year old can drive off into traffic if I wasn’t careful

But when it comes to ProRes video, don’t expect any major noticeable improvements. Looking at the same clips shot in ProRes and H.264 codec, it’s very hard to pick out any changes. ProRes is really here for professional filmmakers who are dependent on filming and delivering assets in ProRes

The controller lasts a while. One thing to be careful about is the program drains your phone battery quickly. I have an iPhone 13 and I lose 10%-15% during a 20 minute flight session. The controller does have built-in phone charging

For this model line and price this is as good as it gets. Battery life is perfect. I get so much time on this battery my legs hurt from standing. I only have one battery though

It's a modest bump, and still shy of the 34-minute rating you get with the pricier DJI Mavic Air 2, a drone that's best-in-class when it comes to flight time.
