  I wore a lot of layers to test it, and everything was sweaty and gross except for my mid back.  I was a little skeptical of this system in fear of weight being further away from my body, but I don't think it will ever be an issue.  My Fall hikes tend to have heavier hauls of mushrooms so I will update it if 30+ lbs of maiitake becomes a problem.  But, it is comfy, I like the pockets (side bellows and the sleeping bag compartment that will unzipper to maximize main compartment space), i'm less sweaty, fabric seems durable, and it really just looks good

  It really came down to a few simple features.  Pockets, included raincover, good suspension and good reviews.  It may sound a little strange to say I really just wanted side bellows pockets, but it is really what it came down to.  I can't say exactly why, but I think they are just handy to have and this is the one that had them

  I'm 6' tall and slender build, (slightly long torso). I don't do multi-day backpacking adventures.  I usually keep it under 12 miles depending on the difficulty and do in and out day hikes. I wanted decent capacity and comfort

All around great for hiking

 (Some other brands had a flimsy seperation between these compartments) I wished there was a zipper on the outside like a regular suitcase for access to the main compartment but there is only the top and bottom access. There is another storage area on the very top. There are two side slim zippered areas about 11-12 inches long (about the size that you could put foot log subway sandwiches) and two pouches next to those areas for quick access to water bottles and one more pouch on the back that I plan to use for my flip flops. There are two zippered pockets on the hips for your wallet etc i kind of wish they came around to the front a little more but on skinny people they probably work out fine and on the 30 L size, these pockets are mesh fabric where as on the 40 L pack, it is a solid fabric

I bought this to use on the El Camino. The material seems sturdy. It included the rain cover. It weighs a little more than 3 1/2 lbs

  A week prior to getting this Pro 40, I had bought the 30L size and when I got home, I put the some of the stuff I had plan to use on my hike in it. I knew then that I needed the bigger size but I liked what I saw so I just ordered off Amazon - l did see these for half the price on two other websites and i tried three times to order it, I never got the sales to go through. In the end I felt safer getting these off Amazon.

 This shoulder width is a little bit more narrow or closer together.. The shoulder straps are more contoured. And the shoulder straps are a little bit shorter to accommodate those smaller frames

 You have got some cut outs there., So it is going to be extremely breathable on your back and on your shoulders.. The shoulder harness itself is not adjustable

, So any Deuter pack, that is the SL version, is meant for smaller frames.. This shoulder width is a little bit more narrow or closer together.

If you're looking for just a backpack just to be a backpack though, and to and from the office, maybe to the gym, to and from class, this bag is gonna fit your needs very well. As long as you don't expect it to be feature-rich and have all these pockets and you know what you're getting into, you're gonna love this bag. Now to the cons of the bag

 It's still just that Cordillera fabric and I found that it doesn't breathe very well on your back and it's kind of a buzzkill for me. My next con is gonna be the laptop sleeve is not padded I Don't really know how you could market this bag for you know, everyday use where people are taking their laptops here and there and the only thing protecting that laptop is a tiny piece of nylon separating that in the main compartment. It's just a recipe for disaster, especially with the crap that we throw in the main compartment. along with laptops running upwards of like $3,000 nowadays

 You know you can unzip it, throw whatever crap you need to grab really quickly just because you don't wanna put it in the main compartment because stuff can kind of go to the bottom and it will get too in a second. And what I really like about it is the zipper on it. That thing is super heavy-duty I really don't know how you can break it and I know how you guys all know that once the zipper goes, it kind of the bag falls apart. so Topos done a really good job of putting like a really beefy zipper

 Here you got that nice topo bright, yellow inside really lights up the bag, so you can really see what's at the bottom, so you don't lose anything and then at the top we have another quick grab pocket here. This one kind of goes over the top of the bag, depending on how much you have it packed out. If you got these tightened down more, it's gon na lay a little bit flatter here, so you can have more access to it. Otherwise, it'll kind of be behind the back your neck, which is you know, not a bad spot for a more safety conscious people just so it's harder to get into it, while you're wearing it

 Then you're gon na have on the classic, and it's just got like a kind of like slick feel to it. So the water should bounce right off of that. But again as with all these the same sort of organization, you have you know the stretchy water bottle pockets and compression straps, although they are metal on this one. But it's all sort of the same and then in this middle pocket

 One and two, and then a small, a couple, little loops in front of that. If you want to like clip your keys to one of these just so they don't fall to the bottom of your pocket and then yeah. We have a couple smaller loops here on this other side, so a little bit of organization they're still not too much kind of keeps that minimal style while still having that more luxury feel and the back panel and shoulder straps on these are noticeably by a large Margin much more comfortable, it's really more thick dense, padding all over versus just having this kind of more like mesh. You know crunchy material, this real thick foam and so you'll kind of notice

 So, just a nice little day pack, we don't really need too much. As you can see, we just have a some mesh padding here, not the thickest, not the densest, but it'll get the job done.
