But its slow-cooking mode is top-notch, with the model earning a Very Good rating in that test. It also earns Excellent scores for sautéing and steaming, both tests that few models ace. This cooker has a baking function, too, which we tested with mixed results. Our chocolate chip bars were nice and chewy on top but burnt on the bottom around the corners of the pot. Like the Cuisinart above, this cooker’s oblong shape is useful for bulky roasts and racks of ribs.

 Slow Cooker Mode had a low, medium and high heat button. IP has a + and - sign to increase or decrease the time. Others you have to select a preset and keep pressing to increase, you can't decrease time. Overall ratings - IP 4

 Lots of issues with lids locking, not pressurizing etc and I really don't see this for the Instant Pot family of PCs.  **Sizing - I measured my crock pot which was 6 quart, so that's what I ordered. It's an OK size for 2 people, but since you can only fill it 2/3 full when cooking under pressure you should take that into consideration. I figure on a roast, I will do the meat first, then veggies

 When I unboxed this 8-quart monstrosity, I experienced a moment of trepidation, a fear of ridicule from my wife, who would point out that we don't need a really really ridiculously huge pressure cooker for just us. But I moved on from that anxiety, and I set about putting this thing to work.  The first time each of us used it, we felt what I'm sure every other pressure cooker rookie feels at first—the crippling fear that you're about to die in a horrific high-pressure home explosion, and that your family will always be embarrassed to explain that they were related to one of _those_ statistics. But, as I'm sure most pressure cooker owners do, we survived

 - 25 minutes cooking + 2 minutes decompressing (and filling the house with delicious porky aroma) - Five minutes painting on some sauce and letting everything sizzle on the grill.  Seriously. Delicious, perfectly cooked barbecue ribs—enough to feed at least eight people—ready in about an hour.  So yeah

  I'll be the first to admit that I didn't count on the sheer size of the thing. At the time, it was just my wife and I and our two-year-old daughter. I dropped the lid and the piece of plastic broke off rendering the pressure cooker unusable.  I called customer service because I had registered my warranty and they were marvelous. They are sending me a new pressure cooking lid

  I have used an Instant Pot for at least 5 years and will continue to do so. I love this product.

 That said, I have two problems with the overall design. First, the gasket on the pressure cooker lid is not removable; therefore, it retains the odor from its previous cook. With my older pot, I could take the gasket out to clean it or replace it. The odor does not transfer a taste to the food, but it's unsettling to smell the last thing one cooked when using the device again

They asked me to write a review on their site, but I couldn't find a spot to do so, so I am writing a review here. I made it clear to Instant Pot that there is a design flaw in the new product that needs to be addressed

New Gasket Design/Customer Service

Since I just received this, I can only rate it right now on what I have noticed about the appliance and packaging. There was a long cut in the box on one side and a gash on the top of the box. After taking the Instant Pot out of the packaging, the inner pot looks fine, but a sticker on the top of the lid had some type of hair/fibers caught in it. The metal part of the top also has fine abrasion on it
