The AAA trend today is for flexing your $10,000 PC and your connection to the internet. lol

5-10 years ago there were always so many games coming out to look forward to, and now it feels like there's been maybe 3 games in the last 2 years that I have really been able to lose myself in.  Are the quantities dropping, because publishers are taking less risks despite growing numbers of players worldwide?  Or am I just getting old and cynical?   

Literally the only game I'm excited for right now to come out is Cyberpunk 2077...

Is it just me, or is the quantity of AAA games coming out drastically reducing every year?

 Frame rate in combat makes aiming guns feel terrible even with aim assist, and snap to target turned on along with a lot of sensitivity tweaking, this is exasperated even more so in melee combat. A weird bug where giving my character a hat caused him to go bald when he looked in the mirror. A LOT of stutter and awkward pauses in actions. A video playing in an elevator during a load sequence was playing like a slideshow

Base PS4 owners beware

 CP2077 does hit its own stride after hitting you over the head with "look how cyberpunk" in its opening hours.  I'm loving this game, and since I'm on winter break and recovering from oral surgery, I'm really glad I didn't have to wait. If you've been able to live with glitches in your massively open world games in the past, you'll know how to make the best of this fantastic game.

 I don’t know why but I haven’t experienced any quest inhibiting glitches. Not one. The worst that happens is I can’t pick up worthless junk loot once in a while, or there’s a purely visual glitch (like my mantis blades won’t go back in or a phone floats in the air after I’ve killed its owner). So far, those have always disappeared on reload

 A Day One patch is coming which should iron out some of the creases, but given there are hundreds of clothing items and specific animations for pulling a laptop out from under a bed, keep your expectations tempered.

It&rsquo;s very easy to spend 30+ satisfying minutes quick saving and quick loading your way through one combat segment to get the right sequence of events you had mapped out in your head. You&rsquo;ll sear your synapses over a dubious dialogue choice in an otherwise unimportant side mission just because the framing is so interesting that you care about the outcome.&nbsp;

It&rsquo;s that Witcher witchcraft that the Polish developer is famous for that makes what is banal in other open-world games exhilarating here. We kept saying we&rsquo;d crack on with the main missions in the interest of completing the game quicker, but every time we finished one, we&rsquo;d get dragged away into a four-hour desert stupor of superb side quest after superb side quest.

It's a lot more dynamic in practice, but Cyberpunk 2077&rsquo;s nearest neighbor combat wise is Fallout 4. It&rsquo;s not doing anything too exciting in that department beyond the quirky cyberware, but it still provides a good enough gameplay loop. However, melee combat, especially with blunt weapons, feels particularly floaty and disappointing, so it&rsquo;s a shame that there&rsquo;s an entire branch of missions based around it.&nbsp;

 You can block attacks to deflect incoming damage, or parry an incoming attack to open your opponent and deal critical damage. Magic is equipped much like weapons, and you can cast an array of destructive spells to destroy foes. Particular magic types, such as illusion and restoration spells, are used to supplement your offensive skills. The character-building RPG mechanics are what give the simple combat its depth, and it is through leveling that I had the most fun in Skyrim's realm

Bethesda has made no real changes to the base game aside from the new visual flourish. Water is much prettier than the shimmering pools of snot in the original Skyrim, for example. Occlusion is more noticeable, so rain and snow won't fall through overhangs. Z-fighting, the ugly texture flickering that often affected distant mountains and surfaces in the original game, is no longer an issue, either

 The world is overwhelmingly massive, and is chock full of monsters to slay, quests to undertake, dungeons to raid, and beautiful vistas to take in. Skyrim Special Edition improves the visuals, and makes the jump to 64-bit architecture, resulting in a slightly prettier and more stable video game than the original release. Unfortunately, Bethesda, the game's developer, made zero changes to the gameplay, interface, or presentation, so the same wonky AI, wooden NPCs, and laughable animations also appear in this game. To complicate matters, the 64-bit jump means that many of the complex, script-heavy mods created for the original release don't work in Skyrim Special Edition, leaving PC players with essentially a prettier version of the base game

These are all nice improvements, but I would have liked to see more beyond visual tweaks. Menu scrolling is still a tedious chore, so a better user interface would have been welcome. Likewise, improved animations would have enhanced the Skyrim experience, since characters and combat look rudimentary at best, especially when you shift into third-person view.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (for PC) Review

 No, unfortunately, for a dreadfully short main storyline when compared to the many, many side quests, I have to give it a 4.  Overall Score: 4.8 with a rated up score of 5.

 So the biggest lesson to be had from this, was I shouldn't have even glanced at the main storyline, until everything else was finished first. With regards, although the storyline was good, I can't give a ten in this case. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, if just reading that name gets the The Elder Scrolls theme song stuck in my head, then I bet you know where I'm going to go with this. Especially since it is now also stuck in my head. Although I technically beat Skyrim some time ago, the number of quests and things to do keep me going back! Now, I originally started with a used copy of Skyrim for the PS3 (which this review is based on), but I have sense upgraded to the PC version, yes, upgraded. The PS3 version is great yes, but the PC version is far more versatile and allows for customization and expansion of the world the PS3 cannot give

A open-world fantasy, to the point where you can get lost for hours or involved in side quests so much that you could totally ignore the main quest for weeks

 The character creation is also a lot more flexible, if I understand it, from earlier Elder Scrolls. It seems that in earlier games if you created your own character, ignoring the templates, there was a chance you would not be able to advance in the right skills to finish the game. In Skyrim your character can pretty much adapt and change and use any weapons, skills, or perks you want it to. Want to be a pure magic user, you can still win the game using nothing but magic

Best game i have ever played.

 You can cook, forge your own weapons and armor (if you have the skills and perks), which brings me to the skill system. Not only can you level your skills, like in the previous games, but you can select perks that make your skills even better.  The world is again a huge, open playing field, which is the reason I was drawn to the TES games in the first place. Skyrim's world is rough, raw and gritty, just like its inhabitants
