Crucial P2 vs SK Hynix Gold P31

Installed this 2TB as system drive in a Dell G7 17 laptop, replacing the original Hynix PC611 1TB NVMe, to get some more storage space (a WD SN550 2TB is already installed in the second M.2 slot). This 2TB runs a bit faster than the old 1TB Hynix but it also runs hotter. The old Hynix would idle at around 30C but the new 2TB idles around 40C

It is deceptive and annoying, the drives are good, I have yet to see one fail in all the years I have ordered from them and they are priced well. Please don't offer this incentive when it does not work and one google search will show you it is a widespread issue with many people. Someone who has less experience would have a lot of headaches, just remove this option and suggest something that will work. If they continue to use this marketing ploy I am done ordering from them, I will go elsewhere to buy my upgrades

When I plugged my new Hynix into the slot and powered up my computer it was absolutely flawless, every app, every file, every preference, ever login, they were all exactly when they used to be only now I had a much larger, faster and brand-new main drive.

You can spend more for drives that go the full gen3 speed, and have a DRAM cache and those are fine drives. But this is a fine value. Works great. Cl

Even GTA V loads quicker! I am running a 32" at 1440P. I am glad that when I was picking up the Samsung (before I placed this order!), I returned it right then and there, as I saved about $55 and GAINED a whole lot in performance. SK said that they would revise their website and provide a toolbox (they should have had one before launch - for such a large company), but I am HAPPY that I made this purchase and I trusted this brand because they actually design, MANUFACTURE and SUPPLY the memory to other brands, so of course they know what they are doing more than the other brands! I give this the same praise as the pro reviewers do! The performance and the price make this a no contest for other brands! You get the performance (or better) of other brands TOP (most expensive) drives or better - for only $135! Again, SK Hynix MAKES the memory, so that is why they can bring such high quality for so low! If you do not know companies that are involved with the sources of PC components - just trust us and get this!

Don't buy this for a PS5. It doesn't meet the minimum requirements. It may work well in a PC or laptop. The search engine for Amazon needs a lot of work

Installing the latest firmware to the drives using Crucial's tool, doesn't help. Bottom line, don't buy these P2 drives from anybody. Thankfully Amazon has an extended return window for Christmas and I'll be able to return 4 of the drives for a refund.

This thing is incredibly slow, in some cases much slower than any of my SATA drives, slower than some of my hard drives. Thankfully it is not in a speed sensitive role, just wanted a big enough drive to fit Elder Scrolls Online on my laptop which only has room for a 2280 drive. I find it slightly amusing how easy it is to overwhelm this thing to 15mb/s writes. I think it is probably some kind of ultra dense many layered nand, it just can't write at any reasonable pace past it's cache limits
