 These are just some pros and cons that I see when looking at this fragrance in 2022. I don't think the newer batches, at least from my perspective, perform as well. But very negligible differences from my nose that if you are not that familiar with Aventus, you're not going to go crazy and be like, oh, this is not Aventus. If you're smelling it for the first time, this is still Aventus, no matter what bottle I think you're getting

 But it is, I think, different from many people that are more into it. Of course, I am not like the biggest Aventus acolyte. So I will let some people in the comments say their own feelings about Aventus in 2022. But I wanted to address this topic because people are still very much interested in this fragrance

 When someone thinks of niche fragrance houses, typically there is a subconscious understanding

 that they're lesser known than popular designer scents. However, there are some exceptions,

 perhaps the leading one being Creed Aventus, a 2010 creation from the brand that has transcended

 its niche classification and it's become one of the most hyped fragrances in the world regardless

 of genre. But how much of that is warranted? In this video, I'll discuss Creed Aventus,

 the basics, the scent profile, and a list of other things to consider when buying

 in 2022 and whether or not you should. Let's jump into it.

 So the House of Creed is a French brand that is highly regarded for their well-crafted fragrances

 in presentation that include many fan favorite scents, including Green Irish Tweed, Virgin

 Island Water, and Millesime Imperial, just to name a few. At the time of creating this fragrance,

 it was inspired to build a regal scent that could project the demeanor and presence of Napoleon

 Bonaparte, sourcing notes that connected to the geographic regions of his life. The end result

 comes together with one of the most wearable versatile niche fragrances on the market that

 has mass appeal in the process. So before we get into this video and looking at the scent,

 just some background, I don't want to go into all the specifics of Creed because there's so many

 great reviews online looking at this scent. There are some just kind of a cult-like following

 associated with this fragrance, but really what I want to do here is kind of just look at 2022

 and what are some things that you should consider when looking at this fragrance,

 and then also look at three pros and cons on kind of helping you make your decision.

 When it comes to the scent, there are many that will debate the description or the true

 description of what Aventus has to offer, mostly as a byproduct of batch variations,

 which we can discuss later. With this in mind, though, I'll speak to some common attributes

 I've experienced in smelling Aventus. Now Aventus is commonly known for its rich pineapple note off

 the top mixed with bergamot and a prominent note of black currant that with the pineapple creates

 a fruity rush upon opening with stark freshness to offer a balancing transition to a woodier and

 muskier dry down championed by its notable use of sandalwood. To interject some personal opinion,

 the dry down to me is where Aventus is at its best, despite its recognizable opening of pineapple

 citrus, as the seage and projection as it dries down to smell sophisticated and will be appealing

 to many within its smelling radius. I've heard some say that this smells better in the air than

 off skin, and honestly, I personally agree. Yet unlike other fragrances that feature woods and

 herbaceous notes as it dries down, Creed avoids becoming too much of a woodsy type and balances

 with a substantial sense of zestiness. The sustained element of sweetness, although becoming

 less prominent while it's settling on the skin, is a defining characteristic of this fragrance,

 in my opinion. But now let's address the question at hand here. The reasons to buy and not to buy

 Aventus in 2022. So in order to answer this question, I wanted to get my hands on a more

 recent bottle, one that I purchased later half of 2021, and this is a 2020 batch because I thought

 that this was a better way to address this dilemma from a contemporary perspective more effectively.

 With that as context, let's alternate back and forth between some pros and cons to help you kind

 of just think about this in a very kind of wide angle lens view of Aventus so that you can probably

 make the best decision possible. Now the first con here is batch variations. Although I find Aventus

 as a nice scent, I enjoy it, I am not the biggest proponent of this scent. There are people that

 are just so diehard about this scent. They'll go into the weeds. And if you're not someone like

 that, I would not worry so much about the batch variations. One thing I will mention though,

 that I think is a little bit more universal when looking at different batches is performance.

 I have noticed, and specifically with this batch here, that performance is probably moderate or

 average. I wouldn't say it's a great performer by any means. And compared to some previous

 batches of Aventus, that is actually news considering that it used to be a very good

 performer. And when you're relying on that seage and that projection, and really, I think the best
