You also don't want to place the humidifier on the carpet or a towel. This is because the fan vent is on the bottom of the humidifier. By placing it on the carpet (or a towel) you stand a chance of blocking the vent and the humidifier over heating. In an effort to avoid placing the humidifier on a wood surface (or a towel)

This definitely works well, and purely as a humidifier, I'm very pleased. However, the selling point of this, and the considerable price premium over competing units, is the washability of the unit. And on that point, this is disappointing. Yes, it can be totally disassembled, but the pieces aren't dishwasher safe, have similar amounts of small crevices that are tough to wash, and there is still a small powered humidifier unit that isn't washable, and has lots of little nooks and crannies that are difficult to clean

The size of the vapor droplets must be small enough or the unit may add moisture but not really help with breathing (according to my doctor). I contacted support, and this is actually an updated review based on what I learned. This device is actually more effective if you don't put it on full power — that makes the droplet problem worse. Run it at 50-75% of maximum, and it'll actually put more humidity into the air itself and less into puddles. But, then, it's really not very powerful
