 It's a modular power supply unit which means you can plug in the cables that you need and only the cables you need saving space in your case without any extra cables. Corsair RM850x Power Supply unboxing and setup and why ...

 So the Corsair RM850X has been installed into my Thermaltake P3 open case and it only took me a couple of minutes to actually do that. All I had to do was slide in the power supply and use four screws to connect the bracket to the back of the power supply and then I just secured that using the other bracket. Very very simple. Now you may have noticed that the power supply fan was facing down the way and that's so that the heat from the power supply does not go up to where my graphics card will be but if you're using a different case you may want to face the fan up the way, you may want to put it vertically, it's up to you

It's an ATX power supply and it's pretty flexible with how you use it. Now I won't be using this for a few weeks but I hope you've enjoyed this first look at the RM850X

I recently picked up the Corsair RMx White Series RM850x power supply for my Thermaltake P3 PC case.

I am still undecided as to whether I use this new PC as a test bench or as a second PC, but this PSU is the next piece in the puzzle.

Corsair RM850x Power Supply - Unboxing & First Impressions

 If overclocked and you are still way way under the limit of 750 watts, even keeping good power efficiency, on the other hand, are you interested in AMD's upcoming thread, Ripper, CPU or perhaps skylake X, which you see right here? Some of these CPUs go up to a hundred and sixty five watts and beyond in their out-of-the-box rating. Some of them will pull over 200 when overclocked combine that with a graphics card or two, and then the 850 or maybe even thousand watt version of these power supplies then becomes worth considering if you're looking at getting an 8 up to 16 core skylake X chip Or a 16 core thread, Ripper chip and maybe putting two graphics cards in the thousand watt power supply would not be overkill and it really isn't that much more expensive. A hundred and sixty for that versus a hundred and thirty. For this it's only $ 30 more for an extra hundred and fifty watts that will let you plug

 Warranty. Remember then you're gon na save a bunch of money in electricity. Over the years by upgrading your power supply, I said at the beginning of this video that this power supply is available in different power levels. 750, 850 and a thousand all will be linked down in the video description below to both Amazon and Newegg Amazon and Newegg trade places from time to time as to who sells these, for the least so be sure to check both places and see where the best Price is for the power supply that you want to buy, but the short version is, if you want to buy the i7 7700 K or any of the rise in seven CPUs

 However, any case that you're going to put this into that you're gon na put the kind of computer this deserves shouldn't, have a space issue, a mid Tower or full tower ATX case should handle this. Just fine don't try to install this in a small mini Tower or micro ATX tower it's not what it's for. You do need a bit more room and then keep in mind. You need additional room beyond this in order to plug all the cables into so be sure you're using a mid Tower or larger case now

 You definitely need to make sure that you're buying a power supply that provides multiple CPU power connectors, not all over $ 100 power supplies. Do that. In fact, I recently reviewed one from a different company that only came with a single eight pin connector, and I called that out in that video. So it is worth noting that if you are going with a high end system, make sure that you have two of these, because a number of new motherboards are using two different CPU power connectors

I have a 3080 and a 5600x. I play my games maxed settings at 1440p. Yesterday while playing Vanguard, my computer did a full reset randomly during a game. My GPU reads about 75C, while my CPU reads about 86C in some instances. I do not know what the temperature was recorded at right before resetting. For my power supply, I have a 850W cooler master 80 gold rated. I don’t think the power supply is an issue. Is it common for computers to reset themselves if the CPU gets too hot? I would have to check the BIOS to see what that setting is at if it’s there. For my power supply, what could I do to verify that’s working properly?

Is my power supply or overheated CPU causing resets?

I mean it's a good powersupply, but the cables are so stiff it makes it hard to cable manage in a tight case. I had to make some extremely tight and uncomforable bends (well, they're closer to folds than bends) so I wouldn't have cables jutting out of my motherboard. There's really thick black tape near the ends of the cables where it would probably be ideal to bend them, which is annoying, and the sleeving itself adds considerable bulk.  The plastic ends also were inconsistent in color

Storage - WD_Black SN850 1 TB. Every Benchmark I have examined shows this to be the fastest NVME currently on the market. This will prove to be useful for large file transfers and Microsoft DirectStorage when it finally releases. 

Memory - Crucial Ballistix (4 x 8GB) 3200Mhz. A great overclocking kit of RAM that fits the stealth aesthetic perfectly. If Micro Center sold the Patriot Viper Steel memory kits I would have gone with those. 

Cooler - NZXT Kraken Z73. The i9 is most certainly going to require beefy cooling, and I always really liked the LCD screen on the Z series Kraken AIOs. Try and picture the Intel logo pictured on the screen. ;)

 It's a really nice price when on sale, but when not on sale, you can find some cheaper alternatives from non name brand companies. However, as this is a power supply, you should NOT cheap out on it.  CONCLUSION I think this power supply nailed the job. It's a great supply for my computer with a 3070ti and 5800x

Great budget power supply

 In terms of the overall build quality, I've been using corsair ps2s for a long time, and this white RM850 was particularly nice because of the high quality cables that come with it. In this video, I'm going to be showing you how to install these power supply units. What cables go where and what they're used for so basically a talk through how to set them up, if you don't know and cover off some of the interesting highlights of the design of them and talk to you about how to fit them in the case and More besides, I'm also going to show, of course, there's premium PSU cables, which are an alternative, optional extra purchase to improve the aesthetics of your case and also make life a bit easier. But the main focus is going to be showing you how to install these power supply units and what cables go where so, if you're, a new builder and you're, not too sure this should hopefully be useful

 Supply unit needs to sit in a position where it can pull cold air into the power supply and then exhaust hot air out. The rear, in this case that I'm using here, which is the Lian Li Air Mini I'm mounting it this way on its side, because there's a panel on the side which has holes in it so you'll still be able to pull air into it. In some cases you might find you have to mount it, so the fans face down towards the bottom of the case. That'Ll pull cold air in from underneath the case where there's venting and then exhaust hot air out the rear of it

 They'Re not needed for the most part so for the mounting of the power supply unit tend to work out where it's going to sit so that it has access to air. So, for example, you'll see the fan on this power. Supply unit needs to sit in a position where it can pull cold air into the power supply and then exhaust hot air out.  I recommend getting as much of that to the back as possible and hiding it away, because it allows for better airflow at the front to ensure all the components are nicely cooled and the end result should be a nicely working machine. You have your 24 pin both CPU power connectors, all your drives connected up as well, and obviously any fan power as well that you need for the connections on that say for corsair's commander pros or for Lian Li's little control box, NZXT, smart hub those sorts of Things will require SATA power, so that's a flat power connector. So here you can see a quick look at the pro PSU cable kit, so this basically replaces the standard cables that come with a power supply unit. It is an additional purchase, but it does allow for a much nicer, looking build a better build quality and a nice overall, aesthetic thanks to those individually sleeve cables, which are easier to negotiate around your case easier to move about easier to position in a way

The Corsair SF600 Gold is one of the loudest of the Corsair SF series. Fortunately the fan just uses a simple 2 pin connector with 12v (red wire) and ground (black wire). The Noctua Omnijoin kit came with an NF-A4x20 but works well here. Match up the black and red wires, and follow the instructions on the Omnijoin kit

  During normal day to day and idle loads, it's perfectly quiet, as you'd expect. But if you give it a real load the fan will become the loudest thing in your system; I could hear it over my 2070S!  The amount of heat it outputs is also impressive and concerning. I swapped it with a full size ATX 850 last night to get a noise benchmark and noticed the heat was a lot lower too. This implies some concerning efficiency numbers, which confuse me given my spare/bench supply is only bronze rated

Ultimately it does what it says on the tin, just way louder than any full size ATX I've owned. That said

 They are made of stiff black plastic, and some are ribbon shaped, which is a bit harder to work with and looks less tidy (circular cables can be tied easily in a tube shape, but the ribbon ones are flat and wide). I wasn't able to power my hard drive with the SATA power cable in my NCase M1 (bottom mounted) because the SATA connectors weren't able to lay flat enough to plug into the hard drive. The EVGA PSU in my other computer had a SATA power cable that had flat connectors which could reach, but I ended up using a spare Molex/sata adapter I had laying around. Furthermore, the connectors on the cables were so stiff and only went in with a "wiggle" motion

Great PSU, lousy cables for the price

 I almost RMA-ed one once (realized a board fault and canceled the RMA) - Corsair was "business friendly" in manor and willing to help - they issued the RMA without a fight. The only con I have, is that it's better to buy them retail than through a distributor, pricing is near the same and shipping, warranty service is better on the retail side. If you buy 100s at time that may be different - but we buy them 5 - 10 at a time. Okay another con - I have a ton of velvet bags now and no other swag - at some point they should send me a invite to a company party or at least a t-shirt ;)
