They're not just throwing junk together and collecting a paycheck. The blade is thick and very strong and comes out of the box sharp enough to shave your arm hair. It pulled the hair a little but with a handful of passes on my spyderco sharpmaker it was smooth and just rolled the hair off! This thing is scary sharp for being as big as it is. The handles are beautiful and offer great grip

It's a bit larger than the traditional khukuri size, but for what I was using it for, perfect. It comes with a fitted nylon case in which the knife must be sheathed a certain way. I like this as it makes you think and ensure that you properly sheath the knife instead of just shoving it in all willy nilly and accidentally cutting a tendon. I have since resharpened it and coated it in oil and it is hanging in my garage waiting to tackle next year's overgrown brush or intimidate any overly nosy neighbor

The sheath is great, it's a kydex model with all the right attachments and capabilities, and retains the blade whether you have it strapped in over the handle or not - it's designed to hold the blade regardless. Now, I will say this: you lose out if you decide to go the initially cheaper route and buy the Junglas by itself for $139 - then decide you want the kydex sheath separately. I considered doing this, but it's not smart. Why? Because the sheath sells here on Amazon for roughly $75, give or take a dollar

But it has a apple seed (convex grind) edge and a 1075 German steel blade with a mild temper for durability. Very nice kukri for only about twice the cost of this. But it will not double as a machete. It's too heavy

I researched a lot of large knives and could not find an overall better deal. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and with Amazon primes 2 day shipping I ordered on Friday and received it on Sunday.

I understand this is a machete and works more on just brute force but I am still disappointed on how dull this was. Hell my fiskars hatchet came paper slicing sharp and with just a few laps on my spyderco sharpmaker it could shave my arms and that's a "blunt force" tool. I think even a machete should be extremely sharp.

This does not have the heft of a true kukhri as it looks like just a piece of flat stamped metal. For limbing branches the Fiskars hatchet is far superior, for cutting weeds, a string trimmer is a much better (and safer) option, which leaves a small area of competence that is occupied by woody weeds. The hatchet would probably be overkill and subject to burying itself into the ground and dulling the blade (which we don't have to worry about with this as it's not that sharp to begin with), and too tough for a string trimmer. So for $20, it does have a niche, just not as large as a real kukhri would have

At first i was skeptical of using 1095 steel, but i now see the advantage over stainless. This blade will get a razor sharp edge effortlessly, and most importantly, WILL HOLD THE EDGE. People, just learn how to take care of it. This is a REALLY big knife and quite heavy, so if its gonna be used for backpacking/hiking, i recommend something more lightweight, like the Esee 6, or the Junglas 2, but if you have a strong back, this thing will do anything really good, batoning, feathering, etc

My only complaint is with the handle, while it feels great, being a hard "knurled" plastic it has a tendency to irritate my hand after swinging it for a while, but using gloves solves this problem. I would recommend this machete over any in this price range!

.Micarta handle feel good in the hand and will be adding a paracord lanyard as additional safety.
