Some things also seemingly don't make sense: the Gamma Zulu switches have shorter travel and require less actuation than Cherry MX Blue switches, yet I found the Blues to be less fatigue-inducing and the Gamma Zulus the most.

I've now gone through about five different mechanical keyboards with different switch types: Cherry MX Brown, Cherry MX Blue, Greetech Brown, "Gamma Zulu" (supposedly a variant of Logitech Romer G switch type, somewhat comparable with Cherry MX Red), and LK Optical Blue (which I'm using on my Keychron K4, my current keyboard).  I suppose a sixth type I've used were Cherry MX Blue with silencers installed (which I ended up removing after a few weeks, as I didn't like the way it changed the feel).  My conclusion is that the switch type has a lot to do with it, but there are other variables involved too.  The keyboard chassis and keys, themselves, seem to contribute to the feel.  Some things also seemingly don't make sense: the Gamma Zulu switches have shorter travel and require less actuation than Cherry MX Blue switches, yet I found the Blues to be less fatigue-inducing and the Gamma Zulus the most.  The other issue is that it's often not obvious from just randomly mashing a few keys or typing a few sentences which switch type you'll like the best.  Often I'd need to use a keyboard for a few hours before going to a different keyboard, and only then would I really feel the difference.

Rambling aside, the answer to your question is: go with the Browns.  Brown is a good all-rounder switch type for gaming and typing.  It also gives you the audio effect without being super noisy.

Even though I ended up going for Blue-style keys over the past year, I sometimes go back to my very first mechanical keyboard - a G.Skill KM780 with Cherry MX Brown switches - and it really feels the absolute best to type on.  If they offered it in a Mac layout I'd probably just buy a Mac version and be done with it.  Either way, it has me thinking that Browns might really be the best overall, again...

About a year ago I bought a Hyperx Alloy Elite RGB and to say it served me well would be an understatement. Being my first real Cherry MX Blue keyboard (not some weird knockoff) it has been an absolute blast to use and I would love to continue using it.

i’ve had my heart set on getting a blackwidow v2 TE because i love the clicky switches and have enjoyed using similar razer keyboards in the past. my question is, are the switches loud enough to be heard through a closed door? if so, does this travel very far away from the room? i don’t want to bother my sister across the hall or my mom in the room above mine. any and all answers are appreciated, thanks a ton.

I was wondering if I could just get some advice. Is it cheaper to buy a prebuilt keyboard or cheaper to buy all the parts and assemble myself? I’m already building my own PC for the first time so I don’t necessarily want to spend too much more money but I do want a nice keyboard. Will be using my pc to game and stream. I was looking at 65% keyboards. Prebuilt ones i was looking at ducky one 2 sf and drop alt ones. I know that only the drop alt is hot swappable if i wanted to customize the keyboard more later on (which i would like to replace key caps later if i get a prebuilt one). Would love and appreciate any and all advice. Thank you!

I thought about buying it to replace my redragon kala keyboard which served me about 3 years. I am going to buy this keyboard for one thing, the rgb and its price. The rgb looks really good on the warmer colors and would look great with the pudding keycaps. The one thing that is delaying my buy is the swtiches. I dont know what sound the switch produces and they dont have any test switch kits. Im not sure which switch i should buy, the red one or the brown one. On paper they seem the same with the same actuation force but the red one is linear the the brown one is tactile. I cant find any videos of all the switch variants and dont know which switch to buy. If anyone here could guide me to a video or could tell me what is the difference between those two switches i would be very happy. Thanks in advance :).

I got a drop ctrl and   when i plug it in, all the keys dont work as they should. none of the number keys work and it seems that different letters do different things other than the letter its supposed to press. Is there something i have to download or configure with this board?   The weird thing is, when i plug in my other keyboard, it does the same thing after having the ctrl installed.  tried on two windows machines

I like the aesthetic of the first one a lot more(case options and key cap options are my ideal look while with the Varmilo I just settled for a look I don’t 100% like but I know that they don’t lube the switches for the tofu and for the Varmilo they do and the total for this one is $255USD. Pins on the bottom are flimsier than others I've purchased before, you can hear the sound of the spring depress, and it just feels "crunchy" as at the bottom of it's translation (not the tactile bump, something about the low quality of the spring). Doesn't seem like the stems are particularly well made, a good number of them got stuck if they weren't pressed perfectly straight down.  Ended up tossing them in the garbage.

 As for the Txc linear switch, this might be the best source for budget extended pole stems that I have seen on the market. They are significantly longer than Gattering Creams and many other popular stock linear switches. The stem is long enough to protrude from the top housing and it delivers a strong, decisive clack on its bottom mount. It is smoother than Nk Creams gathering creams and yellow stock, which is a nice surprise

 To explain this, its initial press weight seems to be around 50 grams. Following that, it actuates at around 52 grams and then it continues to get progressively heavier. Following that until it reaches its stated 63 gram bottom out. This might sound strange, but this type of spring is meant to encourage lighter touch typing, but here, it doesn't really feel much different besides the fact that the initial press feels moderately lighter than the rest of the press does

 and they spent a lot of time on their design, making the outer housing sparkly. That's one of my pros. They look amazing. In fact, these are probably one of my favorite switches to actually just look at

 I'd say they're probably worth the money. If they were like 40 cents a switch rather than like 50 60 cents a switch. I would call them like almost bargain like. uh, these are actually really good for that price range, but it's kind of like medium
