A friend has a 4” Kitchenaid sandoku knife that she has never sharpened and it goes thru a head of cabbage like it was butter. I bought a bigger one (7”) expecting the same or better but this is just another cheap blade that needs sharpening after every use. Nothing special about this knife….

Not what I was hoping for.

I bought these because we needed a simpler option than our Shun knives for the kids to use and my husband wanted something dishwasher safe.  These are about as sharp as my Japanese knives and they are holding up well in the dishwasher. These knives cost about $350 less so I’d say they were worth it!

Saved my Shun Knives

 I even used it to cut the remains of my solid chocolate Easter bunny (that was still good until April 2022, but I needed some chocolate). This knife went right through it as well as a regular kitchen knife.  This does have a heavy-duty “blade”, a harder plastic handle, and of course a plastic blade cover.  This is currently listed around $10 before tax, and it is a solidly built knife, again, depending on how you use it

I don’t get into the “technical” specifics of the knives – hilts, rivets, tangs. I get that some people will want the knife for a different reason and certain things are important to them. For me, aesthetics can be pushed to the side for durability and function. I want a knife that FUNCTIONS

Great Knife

Not impressed with set so far for the price. The wooden block was separated out of the box and several of the steak knives have pin size holes in the silver part of the handle. I previouy had a stainles set by KitchenAid so I had high hopes for this being a bigger set than I previously had. I opted for a replacement so hopefully I got a dud and the next one will be better

Solid, comfortable knife

Cheap knives, you’re paying for the name, handles are cheap plastic and mine had a big glob of glue on one of the larger knives. Knives feel very light and cheap. Ended up returning and going with a better brand.

I simply wanted something cheap for camping since I certainly did not want to risk dulling, chipping, or losing my German made kitchen set. As a plus, they come with sheaths which was a plus for my application. Not the greatest steel, so have a honer and sharpener handy.

The handle of the knives were rusty and the stainless steel was peeling off directly out of the box. Looks like they were damaged or previously used. Not impressed

I purchased this knife so my 9yo & 12yo would have a knife more appropriately sized for them to learn safe kitchen knife skills. So far it has been great. It has been holding an edge well and is small enough for them to functionally use safely.

Blades are made of hard molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel and "face-ground" with a long taper rather than a short bevel so edges remain sharp longer than even the best high-carbon stainless-steel knives. Edges also are ground at a more acute angle than traditional European-style knives and arrive from the factory razor-sharp. The Global 8" chef knife is crafted from a single piece of stainless steel, giving it a distinctive look and feel. It has one of the thinner heels of any of the rockered blades we tested, and the entire length of the blade stays thin, which aided performance when slicing, mincing, and chiffonading. Its minimal rocker lets it perform almost as equally as well at chopping and dicing. 
We don't have too many complaints about this chef knife, but we will note that the handle was a bit small for our larger-handed testers. This made it difficult to obtain significant amounts of leverage while trying to cut through tough squashes. However, the short handle might just make it a perfect choice for those with smaller hands looking for an eight-inch rockered blade. The Global 8" is a great all arounder at an affordable price, perfect for putting through the wringer of everyday use either at home or in a professional kitchen. 

 Make sure you keep it sharp and treat it like family, and this knife will treat you better than any knife I have used, and I own Shun, Whustof, Henckels 5-star, Sabatier, and other various brands. I am sold on global.

 I left mine at work for about 4 days whilst I was gone, and the head chef (who readily agrees it is the sharpest knife in the kitchen) used it heavily, disregarding his wuhstof collection. I came back and he had not honed the edge, so it had deteriorated well beyond repair to its original condition. Make sure you keep it sharp and treat it like family, and this knife will treat you better than any knife I have used, and I own Shun, Whustof, Henckels 5-star, Sabatier, and other various brands.   To be considered a 'good' knife it should: -Be correctly balanced - Have a full tang (or something similar). NOT bonded. - Have metal that can be sharpened to the point where it shaves arm-hair. - Retain its edge assuming regular knife-steel use

 I have actually grown to prefer the weight of the G-2. After a TON of vegetable chopping, the light weight of the G-2 is a godsend.  The steel is not obnoxiously hard (HRC) unlike some other japanese knives, so any decent steel will do wonders on it.  In conclusion, this is hands down the best general Chef's knife I have ever owned

 - Have metal that can be sharpened to the point where it shaves arm-hair. - Retain its edge assuming regular knife-steel use. - Not stain (only applies to stainless steel knives)  The Global G-2 easily exceeds these standards. It's a 'good' knife

 They use the stamping technique in order to make the knife much lighter. There's a forged version (the GF-33) but it's heavier and has a solid handle. I have actually grown to prefer the weight of the G-2. After a TON of vegetable chopping, the light weight of the G-2 is a godsend

Absolute Perfection in a Knife

 It shouldn't interfere with cooking at all. It's probably safer if anything because you can't really stab yourself or cause any accidental harm when you are cleaning it.  Sharpness-It comes sharp and it stays sharp for a long time. But how it keeps its edge really depends on how well you maintain it

 However it's sharp so you can use it to get better control when peeling veggies so you don't have to switch to your paring knife for small jobs.  Lightweight-Much lighter than traditional chef knives due to the design for the handle but it is still very well balanced. But if you're used to traditional knives, make sure you hold the Global at least once to get a feel for the weight before buying.  Point-The point is slightly rounded

  Sharpness-It comes sharp and it stays sharp for a long time. But how it keeps its edge really depends on how well you maintain it.
