Nice coffee pot, easily filled and ready for brewing. Short time to brew a pot of coffee, important for that first cup in the morning. Not sure who determines cup size but for me this pot makes 7 or 8 cups max or 2 stainless steel tumblers.

Otherwise, we brew coffee, then shut it down. Let's be clear, this is a budget coffee maker. I would probably not use this for my home, but it can certainly be used in that application. It's a bare bones coffee make with basic functionality and cheap parts

See additional notes below after 6 months of use: Original review: We bought the 12-cup Capresso coffee maker because it is one of the very few units that would fit under the cabinets above our kitchen counter. And it was one of the least expensive. But we were very happy to discover that it is a really good drip coffee maker, maybe the best we've ever had. It's lightweight, and feels almost flimsy, but it works perfectly, and makes noticeably better tasting coffee than our old coffee makers

So if you like your coffee black add more stars, and the lighter you like your coffee the less you will like this Salton coffee maker.

It has all the features I wanted including auto shut off, and the strength button for small brews of 1-4 cups. The size is absolutely perfect standing 12 inches in height, and 20 inches with lid open. Most importantly the coffee taste great, and better than the big brand-name that I have been using for years. Five stars definitely recommend!

Makes a big pot of scalding hot brew, strong but not bitter, and all the subtle notes perfectly discernible. Its basket, which forces coffee to pool and go through the sides after hot water fires out of a compact central shower seems to be the ticket. We added a paper filter to the basket to slow that even further, and the result is a cup to rival the 4 minute pour-through at your swankiest local shop! Yummy. Cheap
