 Here you got two dual ceramic coated cooking plates, which are 11 times more durable than a standard nonstick and super easy to clean. Just get like a damp paper, towel or rag. Easy and a fork is what i use or like a butter knife, wrap it in the rag or the paper towel and just like wipe it through here super easy to clean. Nothing really sticks on here

 Like traditional waffle makers, so right here on the front, you just have your off on light light. Setting is what i cook mine on, but you just put it and whenever you have the waffle batter in there, so first it's going to pre-heat when you turn it on and then it's going to say ready to cook when it's ready to cook. You just pour your batter right in here. A quality waffle maker!!!

  So I bought this twice. The first waffle maker had the same issues that many other reviewers have noted: the timer and cooking sensor are not always working or in sync. At times the waffle maker didn’t realize that I had put batter in it closed it and to start the timer.  I thought I had a dud so I ordered another as a replacement… the same issues persist as the first

 Just know that you will have to stand there and watch the waffles cook b/c the timer or sensor does not work at all.

It kinda works

Nice thick crispy on the outside tender on the inside waffles. Worth every penny. Easy to use tho when the package arrived it looked like it had been to Iraq and back. Also box the maker was in was split open but the contents were fine

I consider myself an amazing waffle maker and have run through the gamut of waffle irons. This Calphalon Intellicrisp is pretty innovative. I like the electronic display that lets you know when it's Preheating, Ready to Cook, or Ready, along with the countdown timer. I also like how you can adjust your darkness, setting

 No matter which setting you put it on you have a crisp waffle, just depends how dark you want it. The best feature is that its truly a non-stick cooking surface in which an oil-based spray is not necessary prior to cooking for that day, or prior to cooking each waffle. The device is fairly bulky and takes up a fair amount of counter space which makes storage options questionable. Although, there is a simple locking feature on the side that would help the appliance stay closed if stored sideways somewhere

Great Features, one small Con

I was very excited to received this BF deal. As soon as I opened it I wiped it with a sponge and dried it with a paper towel. Next I made a small batch of pancake batter to test the heating elements. The batter spread nicely and I drizzled some turbinado sugar on top to test the non-stick ceramic coating

 It takes what seems up to 30 seconds for the machine to realize something is cooking and I feel like the timer is too long. I had the waffles on the middle heat setting and checked after three minutes. If I had waited for the timer (4:30 min) to beep these would had been way too brown.

Promising but flawed

Before ordering this waffle maker, I was excited to have found one that was ceramic non-stick coated. So after shopping around, I found that Kohl’s offered the best price and ordered it.

After cleaning it out of the box, it cooked near-perfect waffles on the first try on the medium setting, but I would have liked them to be lighter. However, turning the knob did not seem to have any effect on the outcome. It lessened the amount of time on the timer, but strangely enough that did not make the waffles any lighter. 

Upon opening the box, the product looked a bit flimsy and of poor quality. It also had a strong chemical odor. The design was nice and simplistic, though.

Finally, as many others have stated, it did not always recognize that the lid had been closed to begin cooking. This is a major minus and defect. I’ve considered exchanging it for another, but I have doubts if Calphalon’s qualiy control is so bad, whether they’ll be able to provide one that works as it’s supposed to without me having to go through numerous returns and prep steps to find out for myself which ones actually work.

 Turns out we pushed the envelope too far. After a much more lengthy return process, complete with an investigation by the engineers at Chefs Choice, we all came to learn that it was the large chunks of pearl sugar we added to our Belgian waffle batter that caused the non-stick surface to fail. Since dropping the pearl sugar from the recipe, the second replacement waffle maker provided by Chefs Choice has performed flawlessly while making tasty waffles, albeit ones that have been kicked down a notch.

AWESOME......for normal waffles

This came highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen. As noted by others this does not really make "Belgian" waffles. Rather it makes more-or-less standard (thinner than Belgian) waffles capably and consistently. Two caveats, however

A fine waffle-maker -- if you are not a Kitchen-Idiot like me

First waffle maker we've had and we couldn't be happier. I disagree with some reviews and feature lists I've read. I do like this waffle iron and would purchase again, but to set the record straight: - Clean up is easy, even if you spill a little into the overflow, everything wipes up with a paper towel (just need to be sure you spray/oil before the first time you use the waffle iron (may not be necessary with the non-stick coating but it is recommended) - The more crisp setting still leaves the middle moist - it does not crisp all the way through, but the texture is still great - The color is not quite uniform on any of the color settings - going to a higher setting does produce a darker waffle but the edges do not cook as much as the middle (heat distribution could be better, but it is cooked through) - The cord does not retract. I read a description that said it had a retractable cord

Good waffle maker, but want to set the record straight...

 Just like anything, this takes a little bit of trial and error to make sure that a) you use the right amount of batter and b) decide which setting is best for our tastes. After I figure out the ideal amount of batter I am going to draw a fill line on a plastic cup so that we get the right amount each time. Even though this is the Belgian style model, these waffles are pretty thin- which is ok with me but if you are expecting thick waffles, this is not the right iron for you.

A good choice

 The only complaint was the family wanted large Belgium with deep holes and these are more flat along the line of freezer style size. But the reviews of the Waring ones were so bad I went with this.

Everything it said it was

 The appliance is small, compact and not heavy which I like, but is a bit flimsy. I would not want to treat it too roughly. Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase.
