 Now the RTX 4 comes with a Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shaft, which is quite interesting because that's a little bit heavier than wedge shafts tend to be. Normally they'll put an S200 in if your wedge flex is usually S300, because most people will try and make a wedge feel slightly lighter, because obviously you're not maybe not swinging as hard, particularly on some of those half shots. Cleveland have gone with this because they say that's what their tall players have, which is S400. So you know, if you're in that sort of level then it might work, personally I think it's a little bit heavy actually, I'd rather see the S300 or definitely S200 in here, because I think you'll want that sort of feel

 Probably the feel from this is very good. They've got what they call the feel balancing technology again, which is really just a technique where they're going to move the center of gravity more towards the center of the club, and then obviously if that point is behind where you're impacting the ball, it's going to feel a little better. You're going to get slightly better results. And the way they do that is having a little cavity at the bottom of the hosel, just underneath the shaft, because that saves the weight there and just moves the sweet spot, if you like, a little bit further towards the toe

 So that's going to be in your 56 to 60s. The mid is probably the one you're going to see in virtually all the lofts. You can get it right the way through the range from 46 up to 60 degrees, and that's really kind of your workhorse grind, and I think most people will suit that one very well. I think if you're an amateur player, maybe single-figures and upwards, you should be looking at mids, probably really should be going down any further than that

 The top line is a little bit thinner, and it's just a little bit narrower in certain places like across the sole and maybe on the inside of the head as well. When you put it down at address, it does look kind of more on the compact side than maybe the RTX 3 does, but it's the sort of thing I think better players are allegedly are supposed to want, so let's see how it goes. Probably the feel from this is very good. However if you like a firmer wedge and you like to know where the club is, then maybe the S400 might suit you because sometimes, particularly on some of the testier, shorter shots which might be a little bit jumpy for some people, having that extra weight can make a difference

 So how they've done that they've shortened the hosel and moved the weight right smack bang behind the center of the club face which makes a lot of sense to give you the best feel because these aren't forged wedges but I must admit when I tested them they feel great and that moves us quite nicely into the golf course. Out on the golf course I did loads of shots around the green in bunkers and pitch shots longer shots as well to see how they performed before coming back into the golf academy to test it on GC Quad. And the first thing that I noticed and I'm not the most confident chipper in the world it has to be said but when I put these clubs down by the ball for some reason they increased my confidence level. They looked great behind the ball the way that the turf the club made turf interaction the way that it didn't dig into the ground too much again give me huge confidence and the fact that the grooves just look like they are going to be loaded full of spin gave me huge confidence and I saw that shot and shot around the green off tight lies off rough lies out of bunkers and the pitch shots from 50 and out to a hundred yards the ball was spinning like crazy gave me again huge confidence that I could start getting close to pins and be able to control the ball flight control the golf shot I wanted to play high praise indeed and my personal favourite of the finishes was actually the black satin I love that finish and normally black wedges for me feel a little bit harder for whatever reason but this didn't so this actually felt just as good as the chrome one as well or the tour satin and then getting back into the academy I came on gc quad to see what the spin numbers were actually performing like so I hit a hundred yard shots with the 56 degrees and I was getting some great numbers 10 and a half thousand rpm spin on the pro v1 not the highest spin I've ever had on a wedge from this test but appropriate enough over 10,000 which is great hitting the in the box perfectly I also pitch them out there 50 yards and for a 50 yard shot I normally like to see about 5,000 spin and this was getting near to five and a half thousand rpm spin so on the testing on the indoor with gc quad as well it ticked the boxes it did everything it needed to do so price 129 pound per wedge and in this market I don't think that's too bad I think that's about average for a wedge unlike some other brands that are bringing out wedges that are 200 pound for 129 pound they're doing exactly what they need to do loads of positives negatives the one thing that I noticed when testing out the golf course and having them in the academy is the wear and tear on the wedges isn't great there were some big dints across the back of the rtx4 on the tour satin there were some marks that for me if I've only had them in the bag for let's say three or four days they've damaged up more than I would feel comfortable with the black satin hasn't seemed to damage as much now it might be just because it didn't get dinged or banged with other golf clubs but it seems to have held its finish much longer tour satin and I'm normally much more of a chrome fan with wedges this is really marked up and I'll try and show some close-ups of that as a summary of the wedges the rtx4 I think they're great wedges they look fantastic they performed great as you saw on the golf course and you saw in the golf academy as well I think the price is very reasonable and I think for many golfers just a simple classic wedge with loads of different grind options and bounce options is going to help if you're unsure about bounce options and grind options get fitted it's always highly recommended with a wedge as wedge fittings are becoming way more popular these days not only to get the correct gapping for your wedges but to also make sure that you're using the correct bounce for the type of turf you play off so important and it could make the biggest difference to your short game I think the wedges are great I think they look fantastic would they go in my bag yes I'm sure you could tell from the review I've been raving about these and I think they are superb the best Cleveland wedges I've tested ever thanks for watching guys hopefully enjoyed the video if you did smash that like button subscribe to the channel so you don't miss out on any of the videos hit that bell icon so you're notified as soon as I release a new one leave me a comment down below what's your favorite wedge and do you like the Cleveland wedges thanks for watching guys stay tuned lots more to come and that was my full review of the new Cleveland RTX 4 wedges

GET MORE SPIN? NEW CLEVELAND RTX 4 WEDGES ...

Played with firmness and confidence, this extreme-lofted 64-degree club is a real bonus. Not so difficult to use as many people claim, if you attack positively with it.

Needs some careful practice to become reliable - and discover the yardages with varying amounts of swing. Be surprised how high the ball is lofted.

Really useful after some practice.

 Not only does the wedge feel better it's also more forgiving and it should give you more spin with that weight more centred in the face. They do that by having a slightly thicker high toe section. You might be able to see that here on this sample. I've got moving the weight away from the hosel more towards the centre of the face for all those different benefits

 One major addition to the new RTX 4 line is this x-low grind. So as we remember Cleveland had three different grinds in their previous RTX 3 wedge. They've actually done away with the 3 dot bounce option because the CBX as the kind of wider sole higher bounce option kind of caters for that sort of player. So if you're interested in that kind of bounce level you want to be going to the CBX wedge

 That isn't the only change either guys. Cleveland they pioneered feel balancing technology when they brought out the CBX wedge last year and they just made it even better on the RTX 4. For the average player it is not in the order of months it is more years but if you hit a lot of bunker shots you are going to maybe wear down those grooves faster. I usually start a grind fitting or a bounce fitting with the two dot mid-grind that's an all around great performance, good mix of versatility and forgiveness in that sole so starting there if you tend to play firmer conditions or you really like to open the club face up, have versatility the one dot low sole might be right for you but on the other hand if you are kind of a ten or plus handicap player it is probably better to get a little more bounce, bounce is your friend and the full sole has more bounce than the others and it will help you get through the turf easier, you will maintain more speed through the bunkers, it is more forgiving, generally that will be better for you overall

You are probably not an x-low grind which is our lowest bounce wedge we have ever made if you are a ten plus handicap but if you really want to hit the most versatile wedge we have ever made give it a try. We get this question a lot and the answer is we are getting really close to getting the spin that we used to be able to generate before the rules on the groove changed and a lot of it has to do with the technologies we put into the wedge face, the laser milling, the micro milling and how much more precise we can cut the grooves but also I will add the fact that golf balls are spinning more than they ever had and there are more technologies out there to get you more spin so if you combine that new golf ball technology with the new wedge technology against a wedge ten, fifteen years ago we are getting really close

 Is that something that you can feel Kevin or look at? Yeah I mean I'm really excited about this you know when you can bring out a club that is specifically looking for your low handicap or your tour players and you can really make it quite a refined club and obviously a wedge is a specialist club that you're really looking to maximise performance out of. So far when I look at it it is a real sort of classic looking and you feel that you can manipulate it in any way you want to and that's exactly what I need as a pro. I want to be able to play any shot that I like without having to compromise. Okay and the size as well is it typically a little bit smaller than what you would tend to find? Yeah it does look smaller for sure yeah I mean it's almost like a traditional sort of looking club as a wedge that you can feel
