 The nice thing is the ability to use an app to design labels from your phone. But of course the minimal length setting in the app is an issue. So where does this decision take place? Is it in just an office meeting as simple as “Hey Harry, can you have it so on this label maker have the label spacing and something in the software to waste, I mean not have the customer have the ability to use an average of 63.4% of the label material

Every manufacture purposely designs their product to waste label material, toner and ink.

 6 AAA. There is easily room in the compartment for them to have gone with easier to find and longer lasting AA batteries, or even a rechargeable lithium battery. Ideally it would have been rechargeable and the included AC adapter would have kept it topped off so you could pick it up and go. A belt loop would also have been welcome so you could carry this and still manipulate your phone

 The software is mediocre at best. Even on a iphone 12 its a little laggy and setting up labels takes some work. It is possible to queue labels by saving them and then later selecting them and printing them all at once, but its not intuitive, and if you don't want to retain them more than the one print, its a bit of a hassle. I'd give the software a B-  In short its best to consider this a desktop printer, and if you like to move around and label on the go you should probably stick to one of the more traditional models

This cube label maker doesn’t have the best print quality. It prints at 180 dpi, while others print at 180x360 dpi or 360 dpi. The smaller your font, the worse it gets. I used it to print some nursery tags

This model prints a ridiculous 97 standard address labels per minute, so if you've got a lot of parcels to send, you will not be waiting on this machine. Brother's newest version of their P-touch software is nothing short of awesome. It has templates for all kinds of labels, including ID badges, barcodes, hobby uses, and even wine bottles. If you can't find a template you like, the software also allows you to import files or create labels from scratch. The QL-800 is postage ready &mdash; just pay for your postage online, download the file, print a sticker, and you're ready to send. One of our favorite features of this model, as opposed to similar versions, is that it automatically senses the size of label tape you have loaded into the machine. 
Unlike mobile models or hybrids, the Brother QL-800 is meant to stay in place. It needs to be connected to a computer via USB as well as an AC power source to function. It lacks a keyboard and does not offer Bluetooth connectivity, so the only way to create a label is with Brother's desktop software. Label makers works great and prints wonderfully. Easy set up and use. The program for it is simple and self explanatory. WILL NOT PRINT 4X6!! I had asked before buying if this worked with usps click n ship and was told yes

 This was especially frustrating when moving from the Black/Red labels to Black only.  Once you print successfully using these presets I would save them to make it easy in the future. Once you pass the hurdle of setting it up once then this printer is fantastic (hence the 4/5 stars).  The only other gripe I have is that sometimes the labels will get stuck if I'm printing short labels less than an inch tall

This was especially frustrating when moving from the Black/Red labels to Black only.  Once you print successfully using these presets I would save them to make it easy in the future

 Any time you install new tape make sure to fire up P-Touch Editor and do a test print to make sure the tape is loaded properly.  I have had success printing labels via Paypal multi-order shipping by selecting the "QL-500" option.  Plus, I would never use a full sheet of labels so I was constantly having to adjust cells so that my labels lined up. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to print PayPal labels, there isn't much documentation online of people using the QL-800 for this purpose, so I rolled the dice and ordered it. Now this little machine that's smaller than a loaf of bread takes the place of my big clunky printer. No more switching out label sheets in my printer, I only have the one roll of labels to worry about and that's it!

Will work with Mac but a bit finicky

 Have older phones, which I barely use and they got now a new purpose. Printing app doesn't allow to turn text 180 degrees, so that you could print a label like for a wire to be readable in both ways. I know that the desktop version can do that. I would have to contact BROTHER if they are planning on implementing that feature in the mobile app

It is nice to have, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really need it, since it prints the entire label slower = if you have to print many, larger labels you would have to calculate about 40% longer time

 Still printing fast, but not as fast as just in b&w. The app has lots of nice templates (now also for COVID-19) and works very intuitive. I mainly bought this printer to label wires for computer network and it seems like the the DK-2214 labels would do a good job for that. You might use a SCOTCH-tape to protect it and keeping it on the wire, but it is a good size label for labeling wires

For mobile usage: Turn OFF 'Editor Lite' on the printer

 It does it fast, it does it well. I didn't even install the printing software, just download the driver only from Brother and it was up and running. You can easily find the correct label sizes in MS Word and Ebay has an option to print out USPS labels in the larger size label that comes with the printer. At this price it will totally pay for itself in time saved in a about a month

 And the reason I chose Brother is because I have a cheap Brother Wifi Laser Printer that has been working for years with after-market toner and it never has a problem.
