Brother P-Touch Cube Plus PT-P710BT vs DYMO LabelManager 160

I can figure out most new technology with no help, or am able to find the resources when I do need help. My first impression of this label maker is that it is large; I couldn`t see myself taking this with me to work or a friends house. The other impression I had was, why is the tape so big? After setting it up, and connecting it to the Bluetooth on my phone, which was simple but would be difficult for someone tech-challenged, I was required to download two apps in order to print a label. But it turns out that you can work around both of these issues by changing the setting that powers off automatically and make it stay on. Astoundingly you cannot do this through the app (either one, more on that later). Instead you have to plug the printer into a computer, download *another* dedicated app for changing settings, and fiddle it there.

Yeh!It uses up a bit more tape than I would like. DO I RECOMMEND IT?Overall, I liked using the label maker. The useful features, general ease of use, and its great aesthetic appeal outweigh the few cons. I would definitely recommend it

It just has so many features. It's even easier to do things like print multiple copies of the same label. However, for people that don't want to really use labelmakers, the Dymo is more dummy proof and wastes less labels when printing individual labels. When I gave the Brother to my staff, I told them to print all their labels before cutting it

Brother has some other printers which don't require AA/AAA batteries, but this one comes with a battery, whereas the others that offer a rechargeable battery require that it be bought separately, and they're overpriced. The real deal-breaker over the other Brother plug-powered printers was that the other options use 12 V DC jacks, apparently wired for center-negative, outer-positive connections. This is really bad, because it means that replacement third-party power supplies have to be this special kind, and if you accidentally plug a Brother power supply into something else that uses 12 V, but wired for the almost universally-adopted center-positive standard, you could blow that device up. I've let that happen once and now I won't allow center-negative power supplies into my household

Replaces older DYMO for which tape cartridges no longer fit. Easy to change font size, but always ALL CAPS.
