Great idea, poor execution

  But it turns out that you can work around both of these issues by changing the setting that powers off automatically and make it stay on.  Astoundingly you cannot do this through the app (either one, more on that later).  Instead you have to plug the printer into a computer, download *another* dedicated app for changing settings, and fiddle it there.

So just like the product pitch, I wanted to use this in the kitchen for labelling pantry items.  Plugged in, with a dedicated iPad nearby, I should be able to step up, open the app, type the text, and hit print.  But some really poor design choices keep that from working out-of-the-box.

Not as easy to use as it should be, but fixable

 Yeh!It uses up a bit more tape than I would like. DO I RECOMMEND IT?Overall, I liked using the label maker. The useful features, general ease of use, and its great aesthetic appeal outweigh the few cons.  I would definitely recommend it

  The adhesive is actually already pre-cut lengthwise so you can easily cut right down the center & have two labelsnice and neat.Also, if you`re not using any of the borders, I would just keep typing all of my labels on one strip , leaving enough space between in each one, then print all the way at the end of your project so that you don`t waste tape.  Otherwise, you will use up quite a bit of tape, very fast.  I used the Auto cut", print function and it worked perfectly

  After a little meditation, I tried again and was able to get in.  Now, it seems to be working just fine. Yeh!It uses up a bit more tape than I would like. DO I RECOMMEND IT?Overall, I liked using the label maker

  PROSThe online label editor is very easy to figure out.  If you`ve use ANY type of word processing program, you can figure how to use this in a couple of minutes.  The print quality of the labels was great- clean and crisp.  There were no jams and they printed off very quickly

SLEEK LITTLE LABEL MAKER- FORMATTING GALORE!

  I have no idea why they would do this, but at least its a step in the right direction as there used to be no bluetooth at all.  Also, the mobile apps are crap compared to the desktop editor but that doesnt stop this from being a better label maker than all the others I have owned.

  This one prints twice as fast as all my previous models. Its real easy to carry around unlike the much more expensive E550 that I used to use (I never used the keyboard anyway).  My only gripe.

Best PT printer I've had but...

 You're probably a lot better entering text on a cell phone than you are on a clunky label maker keyboard anyway, and you get perks like autocomplete, copy/paste, drag-and-drop WYSIWYG font adjustment and positioning, etc.  More great features: it has an automatic cutter, which is great for printing a batch of labels at once. And it's possible to chain print labels to avoid the wastage you normally get at the beginning of a standalone label. You still do have to waste about an inch of tape for each batch job that you do, but that's not really a big deal

  Brother has some other printers which don't require AA/AAA batteries, but this one comes with a battery, whereas the others that offer a rechargeable battery require that it be bought separately, and they're overpriced. The real deal-breaker over the other Brother plug-powered printers was that the other options use 12 V DC jacks, apparently wired for center-negative, outer-positive connections. This is really bad, because it means that replacement third-party power supplies have to be this special kind, and if you accidentally plug a Brother power supply into something else that uses 12 V, but wired for the almost universally-adopted center-positive standard, you could blow that device up. I've let that happen once and now I won't allow center-negative power supplies into my household

 And it's possible to chain print labels to avoid the wastage you normally get at the beginning of a standalone label. You still do have to waste about an inch of tape for each batch job that you do, but that's not really a big deal.  The Brother app on Android is okay and somewhat easy to use once you get the printer to pair with your phone and get the app to recognize it. It's got some quirks and annoyances, but no show-stoppers

If you're looking for a desktop label maker that prints incredibly quickly, it's hard to top the Brother QL-800. This model prints a ridiculous 97 standard address labels per minute, so if you've got a lot of parcels to send, you will not be waiting on this machine. Brother's newest version of their P-touch software is nothing short of awesome. It has templates for all kinds of labels, including ID badges, barcodes, hobby uses, and even wine bottles. If you can't find a template you like, the software also allows you to import files or create labels from scratch. The QL-800 is postage ready &mdash; just pay for your postage online, download the file, print a sticker, and you're ready to send. One of our favorite features of this model, as opposed to similar versions, is that it automatically senses the size of label tape you have loaded into the machine. 
Unlike mobile models or hybrids, the Brother QL-800 is meant to stay in place. It needs to be connected to a computer via USB as well as an AC power source to function. It lacks a keyboard and does not offer Bluetooth connectivity, so the only way to create a label is with Brother's desktop software. However, for those in the market for a super-fast desktop label maker, we think the QL-800 is the way to go. 

Label makers works great and prints wonderfully. Easy set up and use. The program for it is simple and self explanatory. WILL NOT PRINT 4X6!! I had asked before buying if this worked with usps click n ship and was told yes

 This was especially frustrating when moving from the Black/Red labels to Black only.  Once you print successfully using these presets I would save them to make it easy in the future. Once you pass the hurdle of setting it up once then this printer is fantastic (hence the 4/5 stars).  The only other gripe I have is that sometimes the labels will get stuck if I'm printing short labels less than an inch tall

 Plus, I would never use a full sheet of labels so I was constantly having to adjust cells so that my labels lined up. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to print PayPal labels, there isn't much documentation online of people using the QL-800 for this purpose, so I rolled the dice and ordered it. Now this little machine that's smaller than a loaf of bread takes the place of my big clunky printer. No more switching out label sheets in my printer, I only have the one roll of labels to worry about and that's it!

Will work with Mac but a bit finicky

 Have older phones, which I barely use and they got now a new purpose. Printing app doesn't allow to turn text 180 degrees, so that you could print a label like for a wire to be readable in both ways. I know that the desktop version can do that. I would have to contact BROTHER if they are planning on implementing that feature in the mobile app

It is nice to have, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really need it, since it prints the entire label slower = if you have to print many, larger labels you would have to calculate about 40% longer time

 Still printing fast, but not as fast as just in b&w. The app has lots of nice templates (now also for COVID-19) and works very intuitive. I mainly bought this printer to label wires for computer network and it seems like the the DK-2214 labels would do a good job for that. You might use a SCOTCH-tape to protect it and keeping it on the wire, but it is a good size label for labeling wires

For mobile usage: Turn OFF 'Editor Lite' on the printer

 It does it fast, it does it well. I didn't even install the printing software, just download the driver only from Brother and it was up and running. You can easily find the correct label sizes in MS Word and Ebay has an option to print out USPS labels in the larger size label that comes with the printer. At this price it will totally pay for itself in time saved in a about a month

 And the reason I chose Brother is because I have a cheap Brother Wifi Laser Printer that has been working for years with after-market toner and it never has a problem.

Needed a printer to print out USPS labels for Ebay sales. This does just that. It does it fast, it does it well. I didn't even install the printing software, just download the driver only from Brother and it was up and running
