 For $9/toner, and $28 for a Linkyo Drum, I'm money ahead from Brother supplies. And if I wreak the printer, I'm already money ahead.  If non-OEMs can produce supplies at this price point, and clearly they wouldn't they weren't profitable, then why can't Brother/OEMs? I would have given this printer 5 stars EXCEPT for crooked sheet feeder scanning & UTP LAN issue

    I must reinstall drivers if I seek to change the type of connectivity.     Adjusting the print or scan quality is buried in the menu and for a while I couldn’t find it.    It’s noisy and clunky sounding.      Don’t buy this printer

  Everything you do on this printer is through a touchscreen and web page you access using the IP address of the printer. The response is a bit sluggish, Canon could put a better processor in it, but it's useable.  AirPrint - I have an Iphone, iPad and Macbook Pro, no problem Airprint and Macos printer setup work perfectly, no extra software necessary  Scan to Email - this is a big one for me, I setup scan to Gmail and configured two preset buttons for this on the printer menu. The setup instructions are not intuitive, you must do it through the remote web interface (browse to the ip address) and also you must go to the network port menu and change the smtp port to 587 for gmail, but it works perfectly

  Paper Handling - Tray is small 100-150 sheets, ok for home use. Scanner ADP feeder works flawlessly  Price - At $209 delivered with a 3 year warranty, this is a STEAL, this is a $400 printer  Issues:  The printer insists on going into sleep mode and loses network, cannot be seen be AirPrint or Mac OSX until powered off.  I’ve resigned myself that this is just not an always on printer, if you can live with just turning it on when you need to use it then it’s fine, sleep mode cannot be set to longer than 4 hours and I don’t see any recovery than turning the printer of and on to reconnect to the network. FOR THIS I GIVE IT 4 stars instead of 5  Canon Mac driver does not permit printing color document in Black and White, Apple native drivers do  I setup Google print, and I didn't have it configured correctly, what happens is that periodically the printer displays a error message and the network goes offline

  Print Quality - only have it one day, but the print quality is amazing, out of the box I put a magazine in the scanner, hit copy and I couldn't distinguish the copy from the color magazine cover.  Easiest printer setup I've ever seen - All cartridges are pre-installed, kudos to Canon. just take the tape off and config your network  Network setup dead simple in seconds - I used the WPS Router Pin code method, if your router doesn't do this, get a new router. You end up entering a pin number into the printer that your router issues and the setup is completed, no passwords, etc

I just received my MF644 and here's a couple thoughts from the first couple hours. I'm a typical user not a paid reviewer, although a bit more sophisticated because I'm an IT professional, so read the whole review.  When I finally received shipment, I was disappointed to receive a single black toner cartridge for over $100, when Amazon.com provided all four colors of Toner Kingdom's product for under $80. When i called the number on the packing slip to initiate a return, the voice menu told me to choose Option 2 for existing orders, which sent me to a recorded message to go to the web. I had to call back and select Option 1 for new orders to talk to a person, who gave me the required RMA and informed me that I had to ship the toner cartridge at my own cost

  Canon makes great products but provided bad service. I was initially enthusiastic about the idea that I could order toner replenishment automatically; however, the enrollment process was confusing. Also, when the printer initially reported a low cyan toner level, it was unclear, whether an order was initiated. I waited for a long time on telephone hold before abandoning the process

 After a very bad experience, based on poor value and poor customer service, I cancelled my enrollment in the service and resolved to buy my supplies only through Amazon. For that reason, I am giving an overall rating of 4 stars, a rating of 5 stars for print quality, 5 stars for sleep mode, and 1 star for tech support (although the support I received was more for resupply/logistics, as opposed to tech support). Superb Enterprise-Grade Printer at a Great Price but Don't Buy Your Toner from Canon

 I am a trained engineer. Having used more than two dozen similar printers in the past, I have extra headaches with this printer. I moved the printer from one room to another; then, I had to troubleshoot the wireless network even though the WIFI signal did not change much. I spent more than 30 minutes to figure out why it went offline and found out the power off has changed the IP address to gibberish

Then I have to troubleshoot the print/scan driver from my MacBook Air even though I can ping the printer's IP again, ending up reinstalling the driver and getting it to work. Time has been unnecessarily wasted!  Buyers, please be aware: the machine works

The designer is out of touch of user experience

  Most of my printing is strictly black and white but the color toners deplete at the same rate if not faster than the black even if I use the black and white print setting.  The page life of cartridges is also a joke especially given the price of cartridges. I never get more than 2,000 pages from any cartridge without some degradation of print quality.  I would not recommend this printer

 I also work from home often and use this printer for printouts to provide to clients.  I am just about to junk this printer. Once a toner cartridge reaches 50% life according to the internal meter, the print quality is not acceptable at all. Color streaks or color dots appear on pages
