One thing i can say is that, if i'm standing around in tennis shoes for a long period of time, i start to have a lot of lower back pain. Men's Classic 550 Chelsea Boots by Blundstone [Review]

5 in AUS sizes because the 4 was way too tight - for the record, I usually wear a 5 in men's US) - there was some slight pressure on my big toe, but after walking around for a couple of weeks, they were incredibly comfortable and I can wear two layers of socks if I wanted to. I haven't had any issues pulling on these boots, and the pull tabs seem like they will hold up over time.  These boots also look great - with jeans (cuffed as well as just worn over the boot) as well as with tights and skirts/dresses - and I get compliments all the time. I've worn these to work settings before without judgment, but your mileage will vary on that count

  --  I bought these boots after an embarrassingly long amount of research, so it only seems fitting that I would write a somewhat long review. These boots are great but I would suggest buying some in a different material - while the boot itself is sturdy, comfortable, and waterproof, the leather (which feels like nubuck, but every review I've read doesn't mention it being nubuck at all) is extremely soft and feels nice. As you can see in the close-up, it's sort of whitish all over without any treatment at all, and the leather has a matte quality to it (part of why I chose this color over the typical leather). That softness is the problem, however - not a day had gone before my cat had scratched the leather on the boot, leaving quite a few permanent scratch markings on the leather

The boot was in excellent condition and priced great but I had to return. Ordered a 13 (US) but received 13 Aus/Uk 14 (US). They need to make the sizing more clear or pay closer attention to which size they are shipping.

I bought a sturdy pair of Red Wing boots that have ankle support, steel toe, and steel shank. Got them for about $175 on a holiday sale in 2016, bought the leather treatment/sealer with them for about another $15.

In several months I'll be looking at a slightly higher income than I've had previously. So far I've only been able to buy cheap products. I'm hoping to start a collection of items that have a lot of utility and last a long time. I.e. stuff that is worth spending the extra cash on because it'll last you many years and, ultimately, save you money over buying cheap stuff.

This is what I have so far: 

* Pots and pans
* Winter coats 
* Boots
* Vacuum cleaner 

Any suggestions of what to add? 

General and specific (e.g. specific brands or products) recommendations would be great.

I found these on sale at Bass Pro Shop one day and decided to go for it since I liked how they looked and I had heard good things about Red Wing/Irish Setter. At the time I didn't realize that the Irish Setter brand was made overseas, and I'm not sure if that would've impacted my purchase or not. I got another pair of Red Wing heritage boots a couple weeks after buying these so that I could alternate between the two pairs throughout the week, so they would each have a day to rest.
