The Blizzard Zero G 105 is the best heavy-ish all-around backcountry ski we have used in recent years. It does everything very well, especially considering its weight. At 1500 grams, there are many lighter options on the market, but the ones we've tested ski more poorly than the Blizzard. Going the other direction, one must tack on a couple hundred grams of mass before matching or exceeding the ski performance of this award winner. 
Weight to performance ratio is the real and definitive measure of an all-around ski for human-powered use. In that matrix, this Blizzard shares the top of the heap. For a long time, we have picked two highest award winners; one super light and the other "normal" light. The Zero G 105 is the "normal light" award winner. The primary compromise in its performance is in firm snow. It doesn't grip quite as smoothly or confidently as we would like in an all-around ski. It does well enough, but this is the drawback we have to comment on.

 Super handy, nice little design for the skin so I highly recommend those. With the Zero Gs they do have of course a nice early rise in the tips. We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1

 I've been skiing the 105s for two seasons now. I got a pre-production model and tested them for a year and then wrote the review and I've been skiing on them all this year as well. So the new thing with the Zero G skis is the carbon drive 2.0 construction

 So great and variable snow conditions. The Zero Gs also use a rounded 3D top edge design. So you can see that on the top edge here and that reportedly reduces the ski weight by about 15%. There is also a skin notch in the tip and also in the tail of the ski as you can see and you can buy pre-cut mocha skins

 We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1. The 180 was a little small so I do find the 188 to be an ideal size for me. They do come in a 164, 172, 180 and 188 centimeter lengths

 Hey skiers, it's Bob with SkiEssentials.com. Welcome to our 2023 ski test. We got a new one for you today

 Kind of taking a lot from the Sender of the past few years and kind of giving it a little bit of its own personality but mostly following the same footprint. 104 millimeters underfoot. This is a great ski for those of you who are either looking for a wider ski for their quiver or if you live in a snowier area, this would make a pretty good daily driver especially considering it's more directional nature and kind of that frontside mentality but with that wider shape and a bit different of a construction. But we had an absolute blast on this thing this year

 We talked about with the Sender over the past few years about how it's got you know kind of a similar overall feel to like a Nordica enforcer and that is true as well with this with this type of rock of rocker profile so pretty long nice and low really gradual movement to that not a ton of splay pretty low profile in the shovel here and that gives you really nice snow feel and then we got a nice progressive freeride taper shape here as well so why this part of the ski is down here so this part of the of the shovel here really helps keep that ski up and off the snow gives this thing excellent flotation super smooth and then we get a little bit more of a directional shaped tail minimal rocker in the back here you know it's not it starts about here so it's long ish but it's certainly not dramatic so we have minimal splay at the tail that's going to give you good long effective edge throughout the tail of the ski one of the things that we really liked about this 104 was how well it turned and hooked into the turn and stayed in that carving format and then having this more directional tail with the with the minimal rocker and splay as well as taper allows that edge to stay in contact with the snow more giving you that smoother feel and better control from tip to tail so really good way of building that ski you know again borrowing off of the the previous sender ski to get that shape and profile with these new constructions really helps kind of take this ski to the next level on the scale here we've got this thing coming in at 172 1803 grams so approaching that 2000 gram mark but not quite there for that 104 TI ski with metal in it that's pretty light and then given the swing weight you can certainly see that this thing has some pretty good quickness and maneuverability built into it also we get a 16 meter turn radius in this 172 again kind of highlighting the turning nature of the ski and that more on trail performance while not discounting the free ride and soft snow aspect but loved how this ski turned even on our Vermont firm snow here got to see some testers put this on some pretty high edge angles and see some pretty impressive skiing on this so we're looking for you know that upper end intermediate all the way through that high end expert that wants this modern free ride shape with a little bit burlier of a build but that's it check out this sender 104 TI from Rossignol at SkiEssentials.com and we will see you out there on the hill.  We have some nice windblown spin drifts skirting about, but mostly it's kind of hard slide for life snow. Probably not exactly what Rossignol intended for a 104 millimeter wasted ski, but a good test of it because to me one of the notable things about this ski is it's very loose about the middle. I feel like we have more rocker in this ski than some of the other ones in the all mountain category that we've been trying out. And that kind of manifests as a really nice pleasant looseness about the middle

 I think if you want a, you know, I'm gonna call it a soft snow ski, tilting soft snow. If you want kind of this free ride-y all-mountain ski from Rossignol, this is a really strong pick from them going forward for fall. And you should definitely check it out. Otherwise, it's made me happy here on the upper mountain with its release off the snow

 No to the multiradius geometries. This is a more traditional construction, a more ski that looks like a ski kind of ski. And I think it's gonna make you happy if you want a soft snow ski that carves well on I'll say modestly hard snow. No, you are not getting the kind of edge grip that you expect from your bonafide or your enforcer

 And I thought we'd take this one on the upper mountain. Upper mountain's kind of mean right now. We have some nice windblown spin drifts skirting about, but mostly it's kind of hard slide for life snow. Rossignol Sender 104 Ti Review: an all-new ski for the 2022/2023 season, the Sender offers a loose, balanced feel with traditional All Mountain geometry.  The Sender prefers softer snow, but is versatile enough to inspire confidence all over the hill.

Sorry about the audio quality!  I was using Rycote's excellent Windjammer wind screens, and got a little too confident on the (very windy!) upper mountain. :)

Rossignol Sender 104 Ti Ski Review (2023) - YouTube

 Rossignol claims the ski is just easy turning, everyday jamming ski for on pissed, off pissed. We took this in some bumps today. It held up fine, holds an edge amazing for 104 millimeter wide ski under the waist, tons of camber underfoot. We have a little bit of rise too
