The Blizzard Zero G 105 is the best heavy-ish all-around backcountry ski we have used in recent years. It does everything very well, especially considering its weight. At 1500 grams, there are many lighter options on the market, but the ones we've tested ski more poorly than the Blizzard. Going the other direction, one must tack on a couple hundred grams of mass before matching or exceeding the ski performance of this award winner. 
Weight to performance ratio is the real and definitive measure of an all-around ski for human-powered use. In that matrix, this Blizzard shares the top of the heap. For a long time, we have picked two highest award winners; one super light and the other "normal" light. The Zero G 105 is the "normal light" award winner. The primary compromise in its performance is in firm snow. It doesn't grip quite as smoothly or confidently as we would like in an all-around ski. It does well enough, but this is the drawback we have to comment on.

 Super handy, nice little design for the skin so I highly recommend those. With the Zero Gs they do have of course a nice early rise in the tips. We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1

 I've been skiing the 105s for two seasons now. I got a pre-production model and tested them for a year and then wrote the review and I've been skiing on them all this year as well. So the new thing with the Zero G skis is the carbon drive 2.0 construction

 So great and variable snow conditions. The Zero Gs also use a rounded 3D top edge design. So you can see that on the top edge here and that reportedly reduces the ski weight by about 15%. There is also a skin notch in the tip and also in the tail of the ski as you can see and you can buy pre-cut mocha skins

 We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1. The 180 was a little small so I do find the 188 to be an ideal size for me. They do come in a 164, 172, 180 and 188 centimeter lengths

com. Welcome to our 2021 ski test videos. Today we're going to talk about the K2 Disruption 78 C. This ski probably won't get as much attention or highlight as some of the other Disruption skis, but it's a fantastic ski and would be a really, really good choice for a wide range of skiers

 So your ski's not bouncing and skipping around and losing contact with the snow surface, even just milliseconds at a time, which you might not see, but you can actually feel. And we also get powerwall sidewall in these skis too, so there's essentially just some extra material underfoot to make them a little bit more stable. There's more to stand on and push against, and it just gives them a really good feel underfoot. Now, by replacing the metal with carbon in these skis, they're lighter, they're less fatiguing, they're a little easier to ski

 So when you're coming out of a carving turn, it's got some nice pop and energy to help you get into the next carving turn. It might not have the power and the super strong, stable feel at speed as the skis with metal, but for a more intermediate skier or even like just an expert skier who doesn't feel like he needs to go 50, 60 miles an hour all over the place, the 78C is a really, really good choice. I have a lot of fun skiing these carbon versions of the Disruptions. I do feel the difference between the two and I wouldn't want to just open it up like crazy at super high speeds down a really steep, icy slope on the 78C, but I think I could and the ski would respond really well

 So we're going to use this visual aid here, which is actually an 82 TI, but the same concept holds true in the 78 C. We're just replacing metal with carbon. So wood core, and then we get carbon I-beam in this ski. So in the ski that I'm holding, this is titanal I-beam, but you can see where it goes and just in your mind, just replace the metal with carbon

 This ski flex is pretty stiff for something at its level, which does span from that intermediate through advanced range. When we talk about the on-trail capabilities, we've got to talk about the profile. And then we have a nice positive camber here underfoot, as well as just a little bit of tip rocker, really just to get that initiation of the ski up and running. We also have dark matter damping in the front, not the back

 So that's going to hold the edge, you know, from tip to tail about as cleanly as possible. And that's what it's all about on the frontside, is having that metal edge be engaged with the snow for as long as possible. And that really gives the ski its smooth and stable performance. So that's it

 So we start with an Aspen Veneer Wood Core, and then we add their Carbon I-Beam to the mix. So we get full-width carbon underfoot. There's actually a Powerwall sidewall here as well, so that beefed-up sidewall gives you great torsional stiffness in the underfoot area. So full carbon, and then that tapers to a central spine in the front, as well as through the tail of the ski
