The Blizzard Zero G 105 is the best heavy-ish all-around backcountry ski we have used in recent years. It does everything very well, especially considering its weight. At 1500 grams, there are many lighter options on the market, but the ones we've tested ski more poorly than the Blizzard. Going the other direction, one must tack on a couple hundred grams of mass before matching or exceeding the ski performance of this award winner. 
Weight to performance ratio is the real and definitive measure of an all-around ski for human-powered use. In that matrix, this Blizzard shares the top of the heap. For a long time, we have picked two highest award winners; one super light and the other "normal" light. The Zero G 105 is the "normal light" award winner. The primary compromise in its performance is in firm snow. It doesn't grip quite as smoothly or confidently as we would like in an all-around ski. It does well enough, but this is the drawback we have to comment on.

 Super handy, nice little design for the skin so I highly recommend those. With the Zero Gs they do have of course a nice early rise in the tips. We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1

 I've been skiing the 105s for two seasons now. I got a pre-production model and tested them for a year and then wrote the review and I've been skiing on them all this year as well. So the new thing with the Zero G skis is the carbon drive 2.0 construction

 So great and variable snow conditions. The Zero Gs also use a rounded 3D top edge design. So you can see that on the top edge here and that reportedly reduces the ski weight by about 15%. There is also a skin notch in the tip and also in the tail of the ski as you can see and you can buy pre-cut mocha skins

 We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1. The 180 was a little small so I do find the 188 to be an ideal size for me. They do come in a 164, 172, 180 and 188 centimeter lengths

 Shape TI is basically a length correct sheet of metal that you can kind of see. I'm sure we'll cut to some b-roll situations here. It's a raised sheet of metal that's in the ski that is appropriate for the length. Gives the ski torsional rigidity, it makes the ski a little more damp, and it makes it just ski better at higher speeds and on shittier conditions

 Obviously being 108 underfoot, it's a little more soft snow oriented. It's only six millimeters wider than the 102 on paper, but it feels like something that's much more geared towards that softer condition. One of the things I really like about this one in particular is that it's hugely, hugely improved from last season. So the reason I like the Ranger 108 so much is because it's floaty, it's still energetic, and it's playful

 This is kind of like my, I'm going to go ski some fun stuff and I need a ski that can kind of handle some speed, handle some sketchier terrain, and I don't want to go on like some super lightweight trek. Ski is still fairly lightweight, but it's not by any means like a Transalp or a Hannibal from Fisher. It kind of sits in its own class. So I'm 5'11", 220 pounds

The Ranger series is all new and improved for 2023 and it's chef's kiss.

 You know, a little bit turnier of a personality allows you to really kind of get into the snow and bounce around, kind of giving it that kind of purposing technique. But we, you know, we're liking that shorter turn radius. When you do get it back on trail, you can definitely feel it pull you around. You know, the shovel is flexible enough that you can access the whole sidecut

 Still got that good positive camber underfoot. But pretty long tip rocker here, you know, starting down where my fingers are, leading to that nice, pretty moderate splay. And then nice, spoon-y tip shape as well. That's going to keep you up and out of the snow, combined with that rocker profile

 But really nice overall ski here from Fisher. Big fans of this new 108. And if you like that TI version in the past, you know, this is probably a bit more playful of a ski. Not quite as demanding, a little bit more agile, but not quite as, you know, powerful straight line, full energy

 Why this part is right about here, so you do get a nice, smooth entry point to the turn. And then in the tail, you know, not a twin tip in the freestyle sense, more of a freeride version, going to give you that nice wheelie-ing opportunity when you're in fresh and deep snow. That's a nice splay there for sure. You know, more of a squared-off shape at the end here
