Has partitioned normal/Parking recording. - Improved video quality over the BlackVue DR650S 2CH, added partitioned normal/parking recording.

We have a feet of trucks (12+) and the owner is looking to get dashcams in many of them. What we want is one with built in wifi that will connect to the shop network so we can view/copy the video files daily to weekly.  The wifi cameras I am finding only connect to a phone app one at a time.  


What we don't want to do is go to each truck and spend 20 minutes to manually copy the videos to a phone app X 12.  Also he doesn't need live data or want to pay $30 a month (X12) for cell data service.   


We don't care about storage space, we can get a 10TB drive cheap enough and rotate the videos once it fills up. Only option I have found is manually swapping out the memory cards weekly or as needed (customer complaints about a truck, etc) so he can go back and view that driver.  Then rotate them back again next week.

Dashcam for fleet vehicles that will connect to a wifi network ?

 Well unless you're an idiot that causes accidents all the time then maybe you shouldn't get a dash cam. But for the majority of us who don't cause accidents, having a dash cam is a lifesaver and it has truly saved me once. I wish I could find the footage but yeah some lady hit me one time back when I had my old blue M3 and tried to blame it on me and I had the dash cam footage and I was able to prove that I was in the right. So they're awesome, everybody should have them and these days you can get a great dash cam for under $100, there's no reason not to have one

 The theory is that when you park your car at night, it sees your home Wi-Fi network and it uploads the recording for the day to the cloud and if you want to pay a whole lot of money you can buy more cloud storage. Things on the cloud, what a waste of time. So yeah, what it does without that is I've got a 128GB card in there and that keeps about a week of recordings for both front and back cameras which I think is fine for me and fine for most people and of course once it gets to the oldest recording it just records it over once it's filled up the card. So yeah, dash cams, wonderful things to give you a demonstration of how this one works

 Thank God for dash cams right, if the world didn't have dash cams we would have no idea about all the amazing crazy things that happen on the roads in Russia every day and of course we wouldn't have that wonderful clip of video of that idiot from New Zealand chasing his 911 down the drive when he forgot to put the parking brake on. Yes I have a dash cam and a lot of people have been writing to me and saying Nick can you show us your dash cam install and your radar laser jammer install. Well first on the laser radar jammer thingy, as some of you might know I had a fourth generation Escort 9500 CI integrated system in my M4 and my previous cars, I've decided not to put that system in this car after all because there's a brand new version coming out called the Escort Max CI 360, it fixes all the problems that the 9500 CI had with false alerts not covering some of the laser jamming and a few other neat features so I'll talk more about that when I get it, I'm going to try and get a deal on it so that any of you wanting to buy it don't have to pay the outrageous amount of money that they're charging for them and of course I'm going to have my friends from the police also help me test that the laser jamming actually works so that's something to look forward to. So back to my dash cam, the dash cam I have in this car is the Blackview DR650S 2 channel

002 update, after parking in the sun, when starting up, the device will restart automatically, then "resetting the time" by itself, and restart for the second time for no apparent reason. It doesn't happen when I park it overnight. - Weak mic/bad mic location. The audio recording is very weak compare to the previous version

 It can record "internal voice" (those that are from the device itself, like "Wifi ON, Starting Normal Recording, etc") clearly, but in car audio recording is definitely weak. I feels like the case is blocking the mic from picking up sound in car since the mic is on the motherboard (I open the 550 before). Also, because of this problem, the live feature is basically useless, because whoever you are talking to, can barely hear you on the other side. - Cloud feature, well, unless you have a connected car (car with WIFI), or have a hotspot available in your car, it is useless

Update 2/28/2017: The seller is the best after sell support I have seem to day. I have replaced the device under warranty twice due to different issue, and the seller always response within a business day. Mic is still weak compare to my 550, a different issue occurred after update to firmware 1.004 (side sensor activate itself)

Disappointed

 One problem we saw with parking mode recording was that users had no idea when their car was hit in the parking mode and crucial footage was not protected from being overwritten. With the S model, the camera still doesn't lock events recorded in parking mode nor does it put them in a special folder, but the camera will now announce when events and motion detection are triggered so the driver will know to check for any damage. Furthermore, with Blackview's cloud feature, the camera can be set up to notify users on their smartphones about when events are triggered in parking mode. This isn't a perfect solution as not all users can take advantage of the cloud, but it's great for those who do have access

 The front footage with the Sony X-Mosimo sensor is still pretty good, but the rear camera can struggle at night, especially on vehicles with a tinted rear window. The increased bitrate has improved front video quality significantly over what the DR650GW2CH offered with the initial release of the cloud firmware. Many users complained about the pixelation in the video, so it was great to see Blackview address this issue with the S model. The hardware on the DR650S2CH remains virtually identical, but the tweaks to the firmware definitely enhance the overall user experience

 As you can see. So we'll open up the glove box here. And keep in mind guys, you don't have to get the BlackVue battery pack. This is for parking mode so that it will continue recording and monitoring what's going on with your car even when your car is turned off

 I have been sent all of my other cameras for free as well. Guys, this one is spectacular. So if you can put it into your budget, this is something to get. I want to talk about that battery pack real quick too because that thing, although it may not be necessary for just using it on an Uber drive

Long Review - BlackVue DR650S-2CH with Night-vision

 Come on BlackVue. This leads right into number four, which in my opinion is enough to make this camera completely worthless by itself, and that is there is no button on the camera to mark an event. Every other dash cam I've ever heard of has this feature. You want to be able to reach up and press the button when something crazy happens, maybe your g-sensor doesn't go off when someone hits you, you want to be able to manually activate the record and save that file off to the side

 The overall quality is probably some of the best I've seen in a dash cam. The video quality is right up there with the best I've seen, although it does only have 1080p in the front and 720 in the rear, and it does have a lot of great features like Wi-Fi and an app and a lot of wireless stuff, and that's all great, but I guess the point I'm really trying to make here is that if you're missing the core features of a dash cam and you're trying to sell it for as much as $350 plus, it's just not good, especially when there are cameras out there like the one I just found and have been using for the past week, and it is amazing. It has 1080p recording in the front and the back, has a big LCD display, it has event marking and appropriate file protection, has built-in parking lot monitoring without the need for an extra battery, and has outstanding sound quality, all for about $150. Now I just have to see if it's going to withstand the test of time

 Guess what? There's a good chance you're not going to have that on video because this camera takes about 45 seconds to boot up. That's right. Every single time you get in your car, it doesn't turn on and start recording for 45 seconds. That's a really long time, enough for somebody to bump you in the parking lot, which by the way, this camera also says it has parking lot monitoring, but it won't work unless you buy a separate battery pack which costs more money

 You cannot do that with this camera. You have zero ability to mark an event. That is unbelievable. And finally number five, and this is going to be no surprise, is the price

 Hi everyone, today we're talking about a dash cam I picked up from Blackvue called the DR650S two channel dash cam. I'll show you everything you need to know to get started. So let's look at a brief unboxing, then go through basic installation, daily usage, along with Blackvue's cloud enabled smartphone app. Okay, in the box you have the quick start guide, you have the front and rear camera, the micro SD card and card reader, you have cable clips if needed, the pry tool, you have double sided tape if needed, and you have the rear camera connection cable which is almost 20 feet long and the power cord which is almost 15 feet long

 Still excellent video quality as you can see. You can also make out the details in the road along with license plates, signage, etc. Summary I really like this dash cam from Blackview. It works exactly as advertised and it's easy to set up

 Work the cable around from the C pillar to the back of the car. In this case it's a full size SUV. Again there's plenty of cable for this and then you work from the C pillar up and around the window just working in with the pry tool in your hands. Fits in fairly easy, no extra tools required, and then lastly back to the C pillar towards the rear of the vehicle

 The quality is still good as you can see and you're also able to read the signage with no issue. Next is a couple of daytime clips with different road conditions. Still excellent video quality as you can see. You can also make out the details in the road along with license plates, signage, etc

 Well, since it's hard wired with a parking mode cable, that is a little easier said than done.  I really wish I had gone with one of the Chinese brands instead of this one. Garmin is a well-known and respected brand that you would expect to make a high-quality and solid product. They really should be ashamed to release a product this bad

 Anyway all good as far that goes. Using the app is simple, and it worked perfectly so far. Nice to be able to view an event directly on your phone without having to remove the card , Wifi, or even take the camera from the dash- like some dashbcams that are adhesive mounted, what good is the screen them?? Anyway also like the very compact size. A bit pricey, but I haven't any others with the Bluetooth feature

Got the app and paired it to the phone. Have to do that in the car apparently, not just plugged to the computer. Anyway all good as far that goes. Using the app is simple, and it worked perfectly so far

Great camera

Over $300 camera, without a rear camera (even though you are able to add cameras through the app), not even a tool to push your wires through the panels like any other cheaper cameras out there, only 720P resolution for the inside, which my $200 cheaper VAVA 2K has 1080P, lousy Wi-Fi, keeps going in and out, asking you to join every minute – RIDICULOUS, not even a booklet for BASIC INSTRUCTION how to operate the camera – UNBELIEVABLE, that every other electronic device/dashcam out there gives you even if you need to update it later on (that's what they claim as an excuse, so what?!). Easy to use and easy to install, and even Great Idea for the future of dash cams, but way too GREEDY AND OVERPRICED dashcam, definitely NOT RECOMMENDED for this CRAZY PRICE.
