Black Girl Sunscreen REVIEW and DEMO! Black Girl Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Black Girl Sunscreen for kids is great for damaged moisture barrier and dehydrated skin because it’s very nourishing and moisturizing. You can find it at target for $11

I’ll get to the point and say I’ve tried a total of 3 sunscreens after not using one since I realized my skin was dehydrated due to the use of harsh products (clean &amp; clear morning, night cleansers and St. Ives scrubs - only 😩😭 Freakin’ Bad, yes, I know):

1. Isntree HA Watery Sun Gel - felt great going on, but would eventually burn my eyes and leave my skin uncomfortable by the end of the day. Not to mention the dewiness was not something I liked. Though wasn’t sure if it was from that or the oiliness from the dehydration seeping through. 

2. Canmake Mermaid UV (Clear) - Just no. Didn’t work out for me after a week;eyes didn’t burn, which was the only plus.

3. CORSX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream - Recent one. Wanted it to work, but the application was terrible and left my face feeling uncomfortable. 

As of right now, I am not using a sunscreen (live close to my job and rarely go out, especially with Daylight Savings Time in full swing), but have one on the way (Nivea in the light purple bottle?) and looking into a few in case that one doesn’t work.

Open to suggestions, particularly the ones I can find in stores (ex: Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Ulta, etc.).

* Was using **Supergoop** Unseen Sunscreen SPF40 - great for mattifying, no white cast BUT I am currently trying the **Black Girl** Sunscreen SPF 30 - no white cast and very hydrating without a greasy feeling

**Skin type**: Combo, on drier side during the Winter and Resilient (not sensitive to the fragrant products in this routine)

 Now I've also tested it over a patch of a dark self tan, just so you can kind of see what it might look like if you are with a deeper skin tone, which I will show in the images in a moment, but the positives, this is definitely thin in texture compared to other SPF 50s, and it does sink in around 5 to 10 minutes. Now they say to apply this in 15 to 30 minutes before going outside, and this one is definitely quite hydrating, it could replace your moisturiser I do think, and it's said to provide 10 hours protection for pretty much all skin tones in normal sun, and for the fairest very pale sensitive skin it does state 3 hours only in extreme sun, but you still get 10 hours in normal sun, that's the only protection change that they show on their chart provided. Now what I'll also add is this does not sting the eyes, which is a win alone for that reason, because if you've ever had any other brand, it didn't even matter if you didn't even get it directly into the eye, it just stings like it sunk into the skin and got to the eye area, it is horrible. Now this does not do that, I've applied it all over the lid, and here are some of the macro images, so as you know in this channel I love the detail, and so I've highlighted all the areas that it's caught onto and accentuated the skin flaking

 And remember if you are using skin treatments, prescription retinoids, or even if you're not using anything at all, you've got to make sure you're protecting your skin daily. See you in the next video.

 The tackiness is almost waxy, if any of you have used any wax based face products, then the tackiness is kind of like that where it grips and drags on the skin, but nothing like other brands that I've used which were pretty much thick and sticky, pretty much for the entire duration that they were on the skin.  I've talked about before are A very very gentle mix surfactants that are added to a lot of sunscreens and skin care products personal care products Particularly those that are marked as natural Very very gentle, but was named the allergic contact allergen of the year in 2017. We're seeing increased incidences of allergic contact dermatitis to alkyl glucosides You know it's hard to avoid everything Particularly when it comes to sunscreen so if you have an established allergy to that do know that this is a sunscreen that's got it In there very very it looks like it's got some good moisturizers in there glycerin paraffin wonderful I have I have no reservations with the ingredients Second ingredient you all will ask me about is alcohol You know alcohol is added to sunscreens to to help keep these the filters stable But it is the second ingredient the first ingredient is aqua which I'm assuming is water But let's just take take the cap off here and do a little swatch here Does not have any odor smells it has that fragrance free smell that I love the smell of safety Okay, and I've already got a base layer of actually the hot elabo The hot elabo UV white gel that I wear every day, but let's just do a little let's just do the cast test Okay, the cast of characters here all right it comes out I'll call this um and you don't have to shake this one off all right Yeah, you may have to shake up the newer formulas. I would love to try more Ultrasun products. This feels fantastic

We're seeing increased incidences of allergic contact dermatitis to alkyl glucosides You know it's hard to avoid everything Particularly when it comes to sunscreen so if you have an established allergy to that do know that this is a sunscreen that's got it In there very very it looks like it's got some good moisturizers in there glycerin paraffin wonderful I have I have no reservations with the ingredients Second ingredient you all will ask me about is alcohol You know alcohol is added to sunscreens to to help keep these the filters stable But it is the second ingredient the first ingredient is aqua which I'm assuming is water But let's just take take the cap off here and do a little swatch here Does not have any odor smells it has that fragrance free smell that I love the smell of safety Okay, and I've already got a base layer of actually the hot elabo The hot elabo UV white gel that I wear every day, but let's just do a little let's just do the cast test Okay, the cast of characters here all right it comes out I'll call this um and you don't have to shake this one off all right Yeah, you may have to shake up the newer formulas

 Okay, they both have Tinosorb a s which as I said in that video It tends to go into vehicles in such a way that allows them to be a little bit more lightweight and less heavy Personally I found with a lot of the European sunscreens that I've tried a lot of the brands like the little orange pose They they can be a little oily and a little shiny and I But my understanding is that just as far as the aesthetics tinosorb a s does Does allow the the product to be formulated in a way that is a little more lightweight this Tinosorb a s however does not cover the entire spectrum of UVA Only only a partial partial component of it, but it does cover UVB as well So you need some other UVA players in sunscreens that have tinosorb a s to really get you the most broad spectrum But it is a very very good ingredient very photo stable And and wonderful the ultrasound products do not contain avobenzone And they do not contain octinoxate, and I also believe they do not contain octacraline So in other words while to me those ingredients are more than fine they They're obviously banned in Hawaii because of concerns for the reef so if you're traveling to Hawaii this one would be okay But along the lines of concerns for the reef these do contain nanoparticles Which I you know use and I'm not don't don't have reservations with personally But have been shown to to harm the reefs as well So if you are actually swimming in the ocean You know in your you know you you want to want to do minimal harm to the reef which I completely agree with You might may not choose this because of the nanoparticles But so it's got a nanosized titanium dioxide in it, which is going to give you UVA coverage And you know nanoparticle titanium dioxide blends into the skin really well doesn't leave as much of a cast But it's been shown that when as as the titanium dioxide molecule is nanosized and gets smaller It does it does UVA a little less well And then as far as other UVA players, I believe this one also has bimotrizenol And I want to say bimotrizenol. It has another tin of sorb in it, which will get you coverage into UVA All right So while it doesn't I don't believe they have you the the other the other broad spectrum UVA exclusive like UVA exclusive Filters, you know it'd be ava-benzone which we have here in the United States not photo stable But there's also a juvenile a plot even a plus you know a plus Which gets you both UVA one and UVA two and it's very photo stable I don't believe their products have juvenile in them, but they're a combination of Ten combination of tennis orbs to get you to get you the complete gamut of protection their products Also are my favorite my favorite selling point fragrance free. They are also They also don't have any common preservatives in them that are associated with allergic contact dermatitis They don't have methyl isothiazine alone in them They do not have you know any of the formaldehyde Reese's or anything like that They are they have minimal you know the preservatives are not common Are not common problematic ingredients. It's very very similar as far as the formulation to the Altra sunscreen They've recently changed some of their formulations

 That vitamin C derivatives is able to convert into the active form of vitamin C which is the ascorbic acid and vitamin C as you all know it's brighten our skin. So by just looking at the ingredient itself, the active ingredients for as a sunscreen, it has a very good filters that's contained in the sunscreen.
