The shoulder straps are a huge step up from the 16L, which offered no support at all. My only criticisms are that the sternum strap does not slide as high as I would like. Being a short woman, it would be helpful if the plastic railing ran a bit higher to accommodate smaller statures. I’m also not a fan of the outside zip pocket

It needed to be roomy enough for clothing layers for those places where temps or conditions can change. It also needed to be small enough to pack in a suitcase if needed. This will work perfectly. Haven’t used it yet because of the pandemic, but it’ll also be my carryon for an upcoming flight

I'm 5'6 and 135 with not much of a chest. I got the XS and it's perfect! Room to cinch or uncinch. I have a competitors womens vest and had the trail vest/pack they do. The issues I had with the trail vest were solved by this bag completely (and by my dog chewing the zip so I had to replace it)and I feel like the fit is more comfortable than the race vest!
