A 12" subwoofer should also be able to go lower, it falls on its face below 25 Hz. You aren't going to get any subsonic bass out of this one, it just can't do it. I have my eye on an SVS PB-2000 Pro now, which should be in another league for power and clarity. The BIC is NOT a bad sub, again there's nothing else that can hang with this for less than $400-500, but it's always true that you get what you pay for

Yes, the wattage is only half of what is billed. But, that would only translate to a small difference to the volume. It would take ten times the wattage to double our perceived volume, which is around 6 db. With a mere 50-watt amp, this subwoofer can still pump out a lot of bass

This sub is loud. The bass is clean and very deep. It has similar sound & volume to the Dayton Sub-1000 subwoofer which is the traditional box design- perhaps slightly less. I have never had any of the issues with the Auto On/Off that other reviews have described with this sub or the Sub-1200 or Sub-1000

I actually caught a second PSW505 tonight and purchased it. I canceled it like an hour ago, so it will probably be back tomorrow morning for those that want one. For $123 shipped it's a freakin steal you shouldn't pass on. I just don't need a third one and this stuff doesn't go for much locally on CL surprisingly

I'm no audiophile, but the sound quality seems great to me- keeping in mind in an apartment I'm usually listening at relatively low volumes. I have a Denon X3500H sending signal to the subwoofer with an SVS wireless audio kit, used Audessey for setup and dynamic EQ for best sound at low listening volumes (it sounds better to me anyway). The SVS unit triggers the auto-on on the Dayton just fine, have not had any of the issues mentioned in some reviews. Great for music; and in movies and TV shows while not massive, will give you a nice rumble

That's not low enough in my opinion, especially if you're just going to use one. I would maybe look at something different, although if your budget is...

This unit is a fantastic value for a subwoofer that will do everything most people will need. Some have criticized how low it will play. It may be that the specs are not as good as some others, but it is clean, solid, and powerful in a home theater setup in my 12x17 room. If you want crazy low bass you can get a huge sub with better performance but you will not do better than this with any 12-15" cube-style sub, and a cube is much harder to hide

so the UPS driver and everyone in my neighborhood could see a 12” sub was sitting on my porch for 6 hours. I live in a decent area, so it’s not a huge deal to me, but you should consider this if you’re not in a nice neighborhood. I’m not a big fan of this given the price & attention it may draw. Its not a top end subby but its not claiming to be either. Sound in a smaller room is certainly decent supplements my yamaha sound deck nicely. Controls are hidden on the output side of the box which makes it a little bit of a challenge to adjust but it also is nice not to see them. I am limited in placement area so this was a good option for a sub
