This gets HOT around the outside of the toaster and the old toaster we had did not. Otherwise it seems good quality.

The only real problem (which was also true of the Cuisinart) is that the 2 sides of the toast are cooked to different degrees. I believe that the reason is that the center panel has heating elements on both sides, and becomes hotter than the two side panels. Therefore, the side of the bread facing the center of the toaster always comes out slightly darker than the outside surface. There are several easy fixes to this - Im surprised that neither Breville or Cuisinart have addressed this issue - but that's the reason it gets 4 and not 5 stars

I must admit the stainless steel look is what really caught my eye for the purchase at first! It goes so well with everything in our kitchen! Now, with all of the features, I’ve fallen in love! The timer is great and I’m loving the cancel button so there isn’t a forced/eventually broken lever. My favorite feature by far is the frozen button option! It’s just the two of us in our household, therefore I find myself freezing a lot of our bread products. Instead of having to thaw them and run the risk of them being soggy, I can put them directly into the toaster and come out perfect!! Highly recommend!

This two slice toaster is awesome!! I don't even know where to begin. It is quality made, very sleek and works great! The slots are wide enough to fit a bagel or bun in without frying the fatter half and the crumb tray is a must! I think my favorite feature is the timer! I never feel like I've been waiting forever when I'm in a rush in the mornings. It toasts very well so the 2 setting makes it plenty toasty. As a busy mom who is running around all the time like a chicken with my head cut off, I particularly appreciate the reheat function so I can enjoy my warm bread vs having to toast the bajeebus out of my bread if it's sat too long in the toaster

I think we probably killed it. We tried to knock a piece of flaming English muffin off the inside of one of the slots, and probably shorted the element to the frame. I bet the control system of the Breville is solid state -- necessary for the Lift-and-Look, the Just-a-bit-more, and the countdown-timer functions -- and I suspect that it's not well enough isolated from the heating circuit. That would be consistent with the quirks I described above, as well as its sudden demise

The most basic function of a toaster is to toast both sides equally and evenly. Sorry to say this one falls short, sadly like ever other toaster i’ve tried. No setting for frozen bread either.

Decided to buy the Cadillac of toasters and I have to say I'm disappointed so far with the toaster. I love the style, the solidness of it, and the features, but, toasters have one job to do, and that's to toast evenly and consistently. I've used the toaster four or five times now and I'm not impressed with either the consistency of the toasting or the evenness of the toasting. I've used the same bread, on the same setting, for each use and the evenness hasn't been very good and I'm finding the consistency to be off enough that it's noticeable

consumer reports got this one wrong . this toaster is new to me so thus far function it is ok . Very cheaply made and the power cord , item most likely to cause a problem , is china cheap as you would expect to find on an inexpensive imported lamp . If it proves to be dependable I will replace the power cord for safety reasons
