 I Disagree I Was able to fit pretty much this weekend in here. plus add about a quarter left of space. So I guess Adele depends on how much you eat and how small you can pack it. but I would say that's that's not quite down the case

 The other bear canister that's out there and this one's also a little bit bigger. So that's pretty much all about a review for this one. I Like this one, this works well. The just saying that the way it clips is you just have to have a tool I think to make it a little easier the other one you have to have a tool to you have to have a penny or a screwdriver to open it

 It's a model BV it says 4 5, 0 / Bv 5500. So I wanted to just go over what we have here. so this one is see-through It's a little lighter than the there's a black, there's another one that's a little heavier and a little smaller, and that other one's a little bit easier. Also, to open this one the way you open this one is you turn it - as far as it go and there's a little tiny notch right here and what you're supposed to do is wants to push in and get it off of the notch

Definitely robust and sturdy, but after using this once on a 3 night backpacking trip in the Flattops Wilderness, the extra weight is something I probably won't take again unless I'm in a location where such a device is required by governing authorities.

Big, sturdy, heavy

   I am not weak, just a female with smaller hands and this top was extremely frustrating for me to open.  I could do it, but I would rather carry a small tool than fight with this top every time I need food.   The top is big and I could not twist with one hand and push the buttons with the other because my fingers were not long enough to get a good grip.  I would recommend this with reservations

 It's a big canister. There's not much to talk about on it. Well, I just want to say that this is pretty durable. If you pick up one, it's heavy and that's the big thing I talked about in other videos

 Kind of get with your big bulky items in there and so today you want to do these, we're going to do the meal to go first. kind of just organize them in here so just kind of pack them down in there and then I'm going to go ahead and put some of the items we'd like to carry with us that are more personal items, but you know, carry a scent with them so it's important to keep those away from you while you're in the tent. And then these are some none electrolyte tablets. These work great

 So guys, I hope this kind of shows what exactly can fit into the bear vault? That's it. We've got a completely full as you can see, that's how much you can get into it. And remember, it's just really about trying to figure out the best approach, how to feel it, how many days you're going to be on the trail, What you can just go ahead and carry in your pack because you're going to be using it that day. That way you can maximize how much you can carry with you you know, at a reasonable degree and not carry too much weight

 Sort of like a peel bottle. That's the main concept of how you open it and then you've got this durable body on it and then you know we've loaded ours up with stickers that basically mark it as ours. This is the main concept of it. We're gonna go ahead and fill this up with some different snacks I have here

Bear Vault 450 (BV450 Bear Canister) REVIEW | How much FOOD will it hold?

Fits plenty of food. Rated 4 instead of 5 only because of the steep price. I think the company (not REI) could easily sell this for 40-50$ and still make a profit.

As expected!

I have now used this bear canister a couple times in bear country and have to say its pretty durable.  I haven't had any bear encounters, but I would hope it would do its job.  The canister itself is pretty easy to open with the bump stops even when it was cold and above 12000 ft on Whitney.

Tough, but hard

I bought this for my canoe trip in the BWCAW to keep the bears out of my food and so I don’t have to find a place to hang it 16ft above ground. Works great. Even good for a camp seat while cooking! I recommend it!

Great storage

  You'll see the plastic is heavily reinforced everywhere else so if you don't press in exactly the right spot you won't get it open easily.  Keep the threads clean - especially in sandy conditions - or you might end up with a stuck lid.  

Take some silicone spray, spray a small rag a little bit, and wipe down the threads of the can and lid, then wipe it dry.  The lid will spin all the way on or off with one push.  Don't use too much or it will attract dirt.

  Having some fingernails helps to press it in the right spot.  Look at the inside of the lid where you need to push.  You'll see the plastic is heavily reinforced everywhere else so if you don't press in exactly the right spot you won't get it open easily.  Keep the threads clean - especially in sandy conditions - or you might end up with a stuck lid

Some tips on use

 We made camp in some piney woods after Frigid Air Pass. Placed our canisters a 100 yards away. In the morning, they were moved, scratched, but not opened.
