 Far too warm if you are doing anything that is “high energy” (jogging, cross country skiing, etc). Typical Arcteryx quality, the zip neck is very useful for releasing heat (which you may need to do unless you are just standing around in the cold). I purchase XL with a 40-42” chest and only about 165 lbs. while it’s not “skin tight”, it’s perfect for me since I despise wearing anything that feels like a second skin

Warm and it wicks extremely well. I alternately sweat and get cold from the moisture when skiing. Several times, I'd put my hand inside and realize how wet I was from sweating and think how I'd be freezing in 20 minutes, but then I'd be dry a half hour later. Amazing

The Patagonia Capilene Thermal Weight Zip-Neck quickly stood apart from the competition in terms of warmth and breathability. Our lead tester loves this layer as a stand-alone piece for efficiently shedding sweat accumulated on fall trail runs as well as the base of her cold weather kit while rock climbing during those crisp October nights. Patagonia advertises a Polygiene odor control treatment for the Capilene Thermal, but we found this layer to retain body odor almost immediately, especially when used several days in a row. And while we appreciate the thumb loops in terms of layering ability, the low-quality construction &#40;basically just an elastic band&#41; doesn't inspire confidence they will last for the life of the base layer. That said, this layer offers excellent thermoregulation and breathability thanks to the air-permeable Polartec fabric and the long zip neck. These work together to effectively dump heat and excess sweat during those high-intensity mountain pursuits.

Bought specifically for skiing but used for everyday under layer in cold. Lightweight, good fit, comfortable. Wanted warmer layer but now have lighter under layer.

Wanted warmer but.....

The feather weight is deceiving, in that the warmth factor is very high.  The fit is good and it just feels right.  All pluses, no negatives for this base layer.

High Quality Patagonia clothing

Super comfortable, fits perfectly (M - 5'10 and 168 pounds). It did a great job at keeping me warm and also being breathable, I could wear this all day, everyday.
