I only have the gamma LT but want to confirm, Yes, the jacket is very heavy. It is a thicc softshell for wintersports. I use mine resort skiing and ice climbing but not for much else.

They are comfortable enough to wear all day. There isn't an Arc'teryx equivalent to my knowledge.

Our needs: we are avid hikers and own enough warm layers. We are looking to buy something that effectively shields us from rain and wind, also at prolonged use. My partner: he has the option to buy the Triolet at 50%off, which is super heavy duty, or the Storm10 also at 50% off, which he likes for its packability.

The Gamma LT feels a bit overkill for my needs. It's a little long, a little too big, and the hood too large - I know it’s built for use with a helmet but I'll never wear a helmet when hiking or just wearing around town. It’s a great, durable jacket for hiking and technical use but the whole package feels a bit overbuilt for my needs. Thinking something a little lighter weight, shorter in length, and with a non helmet compatible hood might be good

Finally, while the jacket packs down into tiny pockets of your pack, it doesn’t fit easily into the chest pocket, which is what Patagonia claims it does easily. There’s a carabiner loop on the inside of the chest pocket for easy clipping, but stuffing it all the way in there takes some work. Tough to get the M10 all the way into its chest pocket.
