While there are other e-readers out there that don't lock you into Amazon -- Kobo, for instance just announced its Libra 2 and Sage e-readers with 7- and 8-inch E Ink displays respectively -- those models are more expensive. It just shows what a good value the Paperwhite is, particularly when it goes on sale (most likely for $100) this holiday season. At $10 more than the previous Paperwhite, the 2021 Paperwhite remains the best e-reader for the money.

92 No, seriously. A price drop on top of a promotion on top of a trade-in allowed me to walk away with this Paperwhite for just that. But even if it didn't, there's a $120 difference between the Oasis and the Paperwhite signature edition and a $140 difference between the Oasis and the regular Paperwhite. I cannot find a way to justify the price of the Oasis when the Paperwhite can do all of the same things just as well

I traded my Oasis for this and I don't regret it

 If you are holding it with one hand, which I do most of the time, it is easy to inadvertently brush the screen which results is a page turn you didn’t want. At that point you just feel lucky if it only advanced a single page. My old Kindle 3 is a bit larger and a few ounces heavier but I find it much more comfortable to hold in one hand, especially with the page buttons. The Paperwhite really needs a screen sensitivity option

 Big mistake.  One of the biggest differences is supposed to be the improved screen resolution. That might be the case for illustrations, magazines, or comics, but I don’t use a Kindle tor that. I could not see any significant improvement when it came to books

I currently have (and LOVE) my old Galazy Tab S2 for a tablet, and I have been using it to read for years.  It's by no means out-of-date from a tablet perspective I absolutely love it. 

I use it for reading all my books but what I don't like is the glare in bright sunlight (not a new thing obviously), and the fact I often end up just 'checking the internet' while I should be reading books.  So I'm looking for an Ereader that would take me away from the always-connected disctaction and one I can read in sunlight as well.  

This has prompted me to this wonderful Subreddit to look at an Ereader that would be a suitable replacement. 

My hopes:  Smallish - my Samsung S2 tab is 8 inches. 
No glare in sunshine
Backlit for reading at night in my bed in the dark
Not a locked-down DRM situation - I love android everything.

And a question from a N00b - If an Epub file is in my gmail account - how do I get it onto my ereader?  

Any advice on this?  My budget is open really. (I am happy to pay up for a great product since I'll be using it for many many years!)

 It was the relief that came from knowing that I was about to read a book on a device built just for that purpose and on busy weeks like this one, That intentional limitation alone can be worth the price of admission. Now, don't misunderstand. this is not some woo-woo new age embrace of radical intentionality or anything like that. My love for the Kindle comes from a very practical, very real need for a book that isn't trying to be anything else

 The Paperwhite Signature Edition is the most comfortable Kindle I've ever used. With a 6.8 inch display, it's big enough without being so big that you can't fit it into a pocket, albeit an oversized one. I miss the lightweight and more aggressive design of the Kindle Oasis I reviewed a while back, but I don't miss those things enough to make me want to spend over a hundred bucks more for them

The paperwhite is the mid-range option, and while I've really lost interest in that category when it comes to phones where E-readers are concerned, I think the mid-range is probably the sweet spot. The new software that came to Kindles this year is also excellent

 For those who know that what they want is a dedicated e-paper e-reader then in my book, the Kindle continues to be the gold standard in that department, and as I said, at the top, the most comfortable one I've encountered yet is the paperwhite. The standard model starts at about 140, and if you want more storage, wireless charging, and a backlight that automatically adjusts, add about 50 to it. For the signature edition, I think most folks will probably be able to make do with the base model paper white, but either way, if E-paper is what you need, then whether it's 140 or 190, well, that paper is well spent. These sensations could add timeless, hefty qualities to the works of literature contained therein. I also found afront in that electronic literature kept readers away from the already dying icon of the corner bookstore, and the charms of slowly perusing aisles and aisles of books with others who shared a similar driving passion. And to sip an afternoon capucino on the front patio of such a bookstore was a sublime pleasure that compared to no others

I would like to make my homeworks on the E-notes, but I don't know what kind of results I can expect from a 10" E-notes like the Supernote A5X or the Boox Air 2. That's why I'm considering a 13" like the Max Lumi 2 which would be equivalent to a A4 paper.  What is your thought guys ? I also have to say I'm a teacher in highschool and would also like to use it at work to organize my classes and maybe display some documents on the board from my E-note.
