 literally everything. The OS on the Fire tablet is clunky in comparison. Even the virtual keyboard doesn't work as well for me.  Oh, and with the Alexa enabled on the Fire, when I use it in the same room as an Echo (which is everywhere in my house), they don't work together very well

**Amazon Fire HD Kids 8**. Tailor made, but my reservation is that the hardware is extremely slow. 1.5GB RAM is just atrocious

 So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review. Having used this tablet for almost a year now I can say again that this is an excellent tablet for the price. I only have a few complaints that I was hoping Amazon had fixed since the 2017 model

 3) The battery life is about the same as my 2017 which was also very disappointing. On a full charge I can usually get about 4-5 hours of solid use before it's almost dead (that was brand new), about 8-10 hours of intermittent use, and if left on but inactive (on standby) you can get up to 3 days on a full charge before it dies. However I will also say that those numbers have not decreased much, if any, over the past 8 months of use. So at least the battery life seems to be fairly consistent

 So it definitely served its purpose. Last year my wife was tired of me always complaining about how slow it had gotten and how limited it was on being able to keep up with newer apps. So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review

Overall an excellent product for the price!

 It has lots of features for use as a tablet beyond just reading that allow it to compete with Samsung Tab and iPad. DOWNs: The battery does not seem to last as long in the new version. This may help make it lighter, but for moderate use, you will need to charge daily (before, my wife plugged in the old one every few days). Ad-supported price

Still, it’s rare enough to see a good Android tablet at all these days, even if you’re just looking for a consumption device, and the Xiaomi Pad 5 compares quite favorably to Apple’s iPad lineup on price. It’ll cost €349 (~$413) for a 128GB version, or €399 ($472) for 256GB. The iPad Air is its most similar rival, and that starts at €679 ($803) for 64GB in Europe — though of course, it has the not inconsiderable advantage of being an iPad.

The inspiration seems clear

It still works, but it has its limits, like not being able to smoothly surf on Youtube (even worse with other video streamers) and struggling to have multiple apps running (say Chrome, Amazon Music and Word). Basically it does its thing, but sometimes it gets too slow (especially 'cause I'm used to gaming pcs).

The display is a 12.4" so is pretty big. It comes with different variants for memory and storage size, also upgradable; also comes with the s-pen. Talking about the display again

The two Samsung tablets have a TFT panel whereas the iPad has a IPS panel. However I'm very put off by the fact that the iPad doesn't accept SD cards so that means I can't expand the storage.  


I would be very grateful if I could get your opinions on these tablets and also if you could recommend me a tablet that is not on my list. Thanks

If you have the cash for the Xiaomi Pad 5 but no more, you might want to opt for a cheaper device simply so you can buy some peripherals for it too.
