As for sideloading Google Play. NEVER, again am I buying an Amazon tablet after two disappointments. Again unless you are a light user and really only want Amazon things without Google Play Store their tablets are lacking. And both prior ones I had, the second reviewed as "so much faster" both bogged down within months and could be side loading Google Play contributed to that

Paying barely $25 more than the HD 10 64GB full price (on sale last year could be at times $100+ more when HD 10 is on sale) the Samsung S6 Lite is a joy to use, fast, bright, not heavy, has a pen, everything a tablet should be. I now use it all the time where I hating using then stopped using the Amazon tablet. 85% five star and with four star ratings 96%. I do see the HD 10 has good ratings I gave my Amazon Tablet good ratings too - then time passed and the regrets

 You do have a power port right here. very nice fabric backing on this, a very nice rubber base to help it not slide around on your countertops or on your nightstand which is really nice. so the plastic ones you slightly bump them and you don't want something this expensive falling off your countertop because you bumped it and it slid. Oop, there we go

 Now are there better speakers on the market? Yes. In this price point though, I think that's the biggest question. I think for the price you're paying, this is a very good full range of sound. For the price, it's always tough to say

 You can snooze it by tapping the top anywhere, two times. As for battery backup, that's easy. I set a smartphone alarm at the same time.

 So long as you can see its clock, then the screen puts out too much light. The Echo Dot 4G clock however, is most excellent. You can dim the clock to "1", and it's almost nothing, in terms of light pollution.

I was going to replace my dot 3 in the bedroom with a dot with a clock. But then I started looking at the Show 5. My main goal is to replace my 15 year old Sony clock radio. Sell me on one or the other.

 That can't be it, right? The new Echo Show 8 had a new processor and its camera followed you around the room. I mean, not particularly well, but that was something, right? Nope, That is it. Oh, and if you're buying it for a full price, which you shouldn't do because these things sell for crazy discounts all the time. But if you are buying it at full price, then it's five dollars cheaper than the show Five originally was at 85 rather than 90

Dear Amazon,  I got the Echo show 5 a few days ago. I got it because I have been transitioning to all smart devices such as bulbs, cameras, plugs and speakers. This is perfect to control my light bulbs by saying “Alexa, turn on…” instead of always having to go to my phone to turn on my lights or to view my camera. I have a Ring front door camera, living room, and backyard

I am still learning how to use the device but it seems like a good device to control all your smart devices

  SCREEN I think the 8 inch screen hits the sweet spot, not too big, not too small. Its clear, the touch response is good so far with no complaints.  ALEXA Damn, that woman can catch her name every time, all the time. She doesn't miss a beat and she probably misunderstood what we asked her to do but after the basics she is quite capable of executing skills

  SOUND The sound is clean and you would not believe the high volume that is coming out of this device. From sceptical to IMPRESSED

  What I like about the device:  * Drop-ins are great. We occasionally use this as a kind of video intercom system.  * The ability to see my living room in the app if I'm away from home is a nice feature.  * Announcements

  I've also ran into some bugs. If these bugs are ever fixed (and I'm still using the Alexa devices) I'll update this review. For now, here's what I've ran into:  Note: The goodnight routine bug is partially fixed. I no longer need to tell it to play the sleep sound, so my bed routine has become "alexa goodnight" followed by "alexa turn off the screen"

tv support despite Twitch being an Amazon owned company. That's just weird, and a bit frustrating to me, personally, since I use that service quite a bit. If you want to watch Twitch on your Show device then you're out of luck. It isn't happening

 The only downsides are that its streaming integrations are extremely limited. You can face cam with Alexa and Zoom, but it would be nice to have had Facebook as well, and the media integration leaves a lot to be desired. At the bare minimum it should have the big streamers, Disney, HBO, ESPN especially as this thing is fantastic for sports at a desk. Also the screen is a resounding meh

Extremely convenient and intuitive

 In order to display the cameras in full screen mode, I have to physically touch the screen to expand the PIP to full sceeen or tell Alexa to close the current camera and then request the next one. I want to be able to wake up in the middle of the night and issue voice commands only to Alexa without fumbling for the Echo Show screen. I would rather send my time for looking for a defensive weapon should one be called for. Also

This 2nd generation Echo Show 8 defaults to picture in picture mode which cannot be disabled.

 - The unit will go to low power mode when idle, helping you save a penny here and there… - Several privacy features. The stop listening button we have grown used to. The camera can be manually closed shut for privacy. When remote viewing through the show, there is a warning message, etc

 If this is not your cup of tea, waiting for a prime day sale on a previous gen might be better. 2) If having a white cord on a black unit is something that would drive you crazy, get the white one or go for the previous gen.  Updated (JUNE2022): It appears that Amazon did learn from their mistakes. Another friend I warned about the cord, told me he didn’t really cared and went for the black one

  Positives:  - The new camera features are great. The camera can track you and center you for video calls, real time, and it does it accurately. - Speaking of the camera, the camera upgrade is insane. Went from 1MP to 13MP

 It always knows the answer. Amazon, the greatest improvement you can make to these devices is to just give them the ability to browse the Internet for information. Other than that, I do love these devices. They're a pleasure to use
