 The hi-hat is not as responsive as I would like, but it’s ok. If you purchase this set, please be aware that you are probably going to need to drop another $350 or so to get where you want to be. 1) this set does NOT come with a seat, so unless you have something lying around to sit on, you’ll need to drop another $50 or more on a seat. 2) My only major complaint with this set is that the internal sound (if you want to call it that) is abysmal! I hooked up my studio-quality headphones and turned the volume all the way up and can still barely hear, which defeats the purpose of my purchase, because I live in an apartment

 It you want to actually hear what you are playing, you’ll probably want to purchase an amp for $350 or so. Great value and price, but you are not done spending money!!!

 Nothing mind blowing. We have only had it for a few weeks but so far a solid kit. Pedals are not the greatest quality but function. We have a better bass pedal and will likely change it eventually but for now it works

This kit looks great!

 The pluses are many however. Size, quietness. No need sound proof room. Enjoying my purchase immensely

 Electronic drums got cheaper through time so got this to bring back memories and the fun. Only issues, Hihat isn't precise, nor can you change it's sound like a "real" one. Also, It would be nice to have a module that you can adjust the sound for each peice, not the complete set as a whole. (I'm guessing there is such a module) And the base pedal isn't precise like a real one, hard to make the double beat, or perhaps there's some adjustments to it I've not found

Worthy replacement from days of old

 Move the clock forward a "few" years and I decide that I'd like to learn drumming properly, but don't want to disturb neighbors or let them hear how bad it is. After lengthy searching at various priced kits, this one appears to be the one that is ideal for me.  Two keys to this one over others. Price point and features

Hi guys,. i’ve found that roland td 17kvx (currently 1600€) and td 27k (2000€) might be the best options for me, since i’m looking for something very durable and something that can give me somewhat the feeling of an acoustic drum.

 I think your downstairs neighbor has to tell you whether the KD-10 is quiet enough or not. But there is always the option to add a noise eater or a soft beater. Unfortunately, I could not test the KD-10 with a double pedal. It does work with a double pedal, but I have no idea if it wobbles like the KD-9 if treated with metal violence

 The PD-8 ATOM pads do only feature one trigger zone, which is not ideal, as the TD-17 module can be used with dual zone toms. You might want to assign a cowbell to a tom rim. Not with these pads, I'm afraid. Besides, these 8-inch rubber pads are very loud

 Those snare, tom and cymbal pads have been around since 2006. People criticize Roland for using the same pads for decades. I however think it shows that the concept works and is rock solid. Why change something that works well? The PDX-8 snare is a 10-inch dual zone pad with an 8-inch mesh head

 The L stands for Looking Desperately for the Bluetooth Feature, since it does not exist for this module version. A very legitimate question. Well, in terms of sound quality, the TD-17 is better. Since it has the TD-50 sounds, while the TD-25 does only have the older TD-30 sounds

Roland TD-17 Review (Nerd Version)

 So first off, we got this module, so this TD-17 sound module, as you can see, looks fairly compact. Also, there's a little bit in the top where you can put your mobile phone. It looks like a really scaled down version of the TD-25 module, and it's pretty easy to get to grips with. Obviously, one thing Roland are really good for is interfaces that are really, really easy to use

 The ride has two ports in it, both for the bell and the bow of the cymbal, the bow and the edge. So one for the bell, one for the bow and the edge, and so it makes it very distinct in terms of the different sounds you can get out of it, and these crashes were very, they're like one's own pads, but they're very expressive as well, and they respond to your, the slightest of touches should I say. As with the rest of the kit, the hi-hats as well, they're very responsive. So all in all, that first view of this kit is a very solid entry into, you know, kind of the digital world, if this is where you're starting from, therefore

 Obviously, you've got the 808 on there, 909, whatever, but when it comes to the real drums on there, a lot, all of these are real sampled drums. I don't know what brands they use, but I do know that they're real, so that's an impressive part of it, and you can hear that clarity of sound when you're demoing the kit. You know, obviously, everybody has a tendency to, not everybody, but some people have a tendency to jump on an electronic kit and go around the kit as fast as you can, like Jesus. Basically, if you decide you're going to play at a slightly slower pace, really enjoy the ambience of each, how do I say, of each pad, of each note that comes out of each instrument as you press it, you can hear it, it decays very nicely, it sustains very nice, very, very realistic for what it is

 And obviously, with the, as with the TD-25, TD-50, you can assign sounds to different parts of the kit, which we're not going to do here, which is going to tell you you can. Okay, so the TD-11 was decent in terms of the sound samples that you had on it, but the TD-17 represents a big jump in terms of the quality that you can get for that round about the same price point. I remember one of the Roland reps telling me that a lot of these sounds, if they're real, if they're, if they're from real instruments, they are actually sampled. They're not just, you know, synthesized sounds

 So another feature I've noticed on there is the coach bum something I definitely need I don't know about you absolutely yeah we all need it I think there comes a point when it's nice just to strip it all back keep yourself in check and so the coaching facility has got time check quiet count and warm-ups now this these three features here I remember these from the TD-11 and so yeah they've come direct from the TD-11 on to the TD-17 obviously a very popular thing to have so time check and it will just throw out a metronome for a click for you and it will judge your kick and your snare playability so it will tell you if you kick drums behind or in front we've also got the quiet count so quiet count will again throw out a click it'll drop the click out you play along and then it throws you back in or throws the click back in so you find out just how good or bad you are and then our warm-ups so I'll throw out some rudiments for you to copy and that's good just 10-15 minutes a day just to sit down doing that but also other features that would help you as a player what else can you tell us John about yeah so features I mean I think a lot of people underestimate how powerful the country features are any onboard features are great but not only that you can now connect to different apps for USB so we've got an app now called Melodics which is a play along app and an app with drum lessons on there as well so that's one thing that we're excited about is being able to you know not only use the kit as is much be able to you know expand out into different applications to further your learning as well so something we touched on earlier and we're gonna go into a little bit more depth now is the user samples yes I think it's really important nowadays to have this option on a drum kit especially some of the mid-range drum kits whereas before you know these features might be reserved for some of the flagship kits but you know putting your own samples onto onto a kit is something that's become more and more popular I think especially in the world of hybrid drumming but I think nowadays it's really good to have the option for people to experiment and be able to be inspired by different sounds and a different approach to kit so instead of just having a kit kat snare you know you know you could you could put guitar notes on your toms okay but bass notes on your toms right you know one of the famous sayings that are on is if you can hear it then you can play on your drum kit which is great and that's just a really good way to you know develop your you know creativity whilst drumming at the same time right okay so uploading a sample is as easy as get any get a sample onto an SD card 16-bit WAV 44.1 put it into the into the module uploading it and then it's going to be there so when you are selecting your instruments in the user list at the very end you have user samples and once you have your user sample on the snare you can then have the option to layer that with another user sample or with any of the preset samples in there so if you want a bit of extra attack on your kick then you can do that and more if you want to have a crashing belt over your tongue for some bizarre reason keys are the sound of crashing keys yeah yeah do that and then the good thing is you can actually like you can dial in how much of that you want so I can you if you want you can be really silly but yeah it's just a good way like I said to you not expand that creativity in your playing awesome so I particularly as a drummer or drummist the one feature that I really love about this is the snare drum obviously it's a lot larger than previous snare drums as 12 inch that's right and you've also got the the sort of raised hoop on there now one thing that I've noticed in the past about a lot of V drum kits and it's the cross stick feature so when you press that cross stick button sometimes it doesn't always catch on sometimes you'll be sitting there playing doing cross stick and all the sudden you'll get like a big bang so snare drum sound will kick back in I didn't get that with this so it feels like the technology is now advancing so much that I was literally whacking that and the cross stick sound didn't change at all so that is a very very good feature especially if you want to replicate the acoustic drum feel to this the hi-hats as well so we've got the VH 10s so yeah a new redesigned set of hi-hats and obviously the KD 10 as well so yeah they're great little features to have so we're sitting behind TD 17 KVX but there are two other models in the lineup John what can you tell me about those? Yep so we've got a TD 17 KL which is PD 8 A's around the toms so they're new improved rubber toms okay and it also comes with a CY 5 for the hi-hat and CY 5. So no longer on the hi-hat stand? Yeah no longer on the hi-hat stand. Just off the rack? Off the rack yeah and then CY 8 cymbals similar to TD 11 mm-hmm and it doesn't feature bluetooth ah so the TD 17 KV has PDX 8s around the toms similar to this also with a CY 5 and CY 8s okay and then this model here the TD 17 KVX has the VH 10s has a CY 12s two of them and a CY 13 for the crush as well as well as a PDX 8 toms

 We also have the PDX-12 which is our new 12 inch snare pad which is absolutely fantastic, it's got a bigger playing surface and it's again very responsive and also the KD-10 which is a new improved KD kick drum. Cool, so kick snare and hats are obviously the main focal point of a kit, Tom's as well and cymbals obviously, but I think that's the three, I mean having a little plan earlier it feels great, it's sort of everything you want and it feels awesome. Roland TD-17KVX V-Drums Electronic Drum Kit Review & In depth Demo

 One thing I want to show you real quick so you can make changes to the levels of the audio. Just exit out of that particular Bluetooth feature to the main screen and hit Mix Volume button right here in the center, and here you can change the level of the audio, the click if you're going to hear a click, the song, the guide track, any of that kind of stuff. You can change all of the levels right there. So let's see where we are and start this song

 They're all dual zone pads. They feel good, nice mesh heads that you can tighten or loosen, depending on your playing style and your feel. The snare pad is the PDX12. It's great because it's 12 inches round

 Nice feeling mesh pad. And I also want to mention, like I have in other electronic drum kit videos, the beater on my kick drum pedal is plastic. And I definitely recommend a plastic beater on the kick drum pedal you use as well, because if you use a felt beater, the felt will actually tear away at the mesh on the head, okay, over time. It doesn't just do it right away, but over time it will tear away, and the plastic does not do that

 See? Now you're connected with audio. So now, through Bluetooth, you can play to songs. You can go to your iTunes library, Spotify, anything you want to play along with, and do it very simply. So I have a particular tune from my band Big Big Train on my iTunes library

Roland V-Drums TD-17KVX Electronic Drum Set Review

 Now this drum set is kind of interesting, because Roland usually didn't make drum sets of this size with this caliber of sounds. They never did that sort of thing under $2,000. But now they finally have. I feel like competition has been rising recently, forcing Roland to really go all in and make a really nice drum set

 I can't tell you how many times in my playing examples videos that I've been filming that I've tried to hit the bell, but I've missed it because it's just like really tiny. Okay. So now it's time to move ahead to the drum module, the thing that actually senses you're playing and then produces a sound to match that. The TD-17 is a huge step up over its predecessor, the Roland TD-11

 And then they just mix and match them a billion times to make 50 individual kits. But the sounds that they do have are very, very good. The snare has a nice bite to it, also has a richness, especially when you're playing ghost notes, kind of hard to explain. The cymbals also sound way nicer

 On the one hand, I really love how compact it is. When I went and bought this drum set off of a guy, I literally just folded the drum rack in half and then put it in the trunk of my car and was off on my way. With the TD-30K, it's a bigger drum rack, it's a lot heavier, and you have to fold down the back seats and do all this stuff. This is just way more compact
