I have sent for a metal filter which, in theory, will not remove the acid. I like the slightly acid or citrus bite of fresh coffee. If this fulfills that ideal, this is five stars.

We've also noticed that the cone shape for the coffee seems to offer a better flavor when brewing. We've started using a little less coffee per pot as a result.

I bought one for my son-in-law and one for myself. We used it yesterday with Peet’s French Roast and filtered water. The flavor was OK. I suspect that it takes some experimenting to make a great cup of coffee

What do you really need in a coffee maker? Good coffee, of course, as well as reliability, ease of use, and easy cleaning. Few things annoy me more than those high-tech coffee makers that have whiz-bang features that are supposed to make your life better but ultimately just cause confusion and extra costs (for the coffeemaker itself, charcoal filters, built-in bean grinders, etc.). I don't even really need the timer; I just stagger into the kitchen in the morning and push the "On" button

I used a fine grind of Seattle Best #5 which is my favorite. I use it in my moka pots and my espresso machine. Cons: price. It’s too expensive plain and simple

I've only had this one for a few days. So far I'm happy. It brews quickly and coffee is nice and hot! The price couldn't be beat, as I am on a fixed income. That's all I can say this early

Too fine, however, and you may not be able to push the water through as easily. The more course your beans though, the easier it will be to push the coffee through, and the more "consistent" the flavor will be. Despite however finely or coursely-ground you like your coffee, be sure to use FRESH BEANS beforehand. By fresh, I mean maybe a day to a month-old whole beans, and grind them on-the-spot prior to brewing your cup

This model does not have a brew strength selector. You control the strength by the amount of coffee grounds you put in, usually 1 teaspoon of coffee (more or less to taste) per cup. He knows how he likes his coffee so he did not need the brew strength selector.
