 But I found the solution myself, and the drive works fine. Yes, can get hot, but I am not a super heavy duty user.  Attached is the speed test I did compared to my XPS15 9570 internal (Toshiba) SSD. The XTRM Q 1TB is very fast! If Sabrent had reasonable tech support, I would give 5 Stars

  With this drive I am seeing 2,200 Read speeds and 186.7 write. I TURN OFF the W10 caching in the Device Manager. I want my drives to push the data through right away, even if it appears slow, not have MS play games using my system memory and cache to make the drives SEEM faster

 So I had someone buy a new drive for us which I will not name at this time (otherwise it's like I am shilling for another company). So far the other drive works perfectly and I doubt it will happen again, but if it crashes after 20-26 days, I'll be back here to raise the star rating.  Overall, I bet the drive is great, but I wasted a lot of time and effort helping my brother which would have been nice if the drive did not fail. I will boost the rating if the new drive fails as then it would be fair, but at this state I believe I am being fair with the review

 We should probably move on to benchmarks that matter a heck of a lot more to real workloads that we actually care about, and first up a classic boot to windows and we're only really looking at the p5 and pcie 4.0 drive, because i'm way too lazy to Install windows on all of my drives and dang both of these drives got to the desktop fast from initial boot. The p5 took about 16 seconds to load up the os, while the pcie 4.0 drive came out on top with a little over 14 seconds speedy stuff

 Unfortunately, the drive doesn't ship with its own heatsink, as some more expensive drives do and as we'll see a little later during the benchmarks. You'Re probably gon na need one, but i like to think that if you're buying a drive like this you'll be pairing it with a motherboard that ships with its own m.2 heatsinks software-wise the p5 pairs great with the crucial storage executive tool, which you can use to Easily upgrade the drive's firmware, monitor, temps and other stats clone your drive and mess around with security settings. It also lets you enable momentum cache, which essentially speeds the drive up even more in certain scenarios, by utilizing some of your spare ram, and now that we know a little more about the p5, let's go ahead and see what this thing can actually do

 Finally, taking high-speed ssds and running with them, we're definitely going to see games built to take advantage of that speed, more and more moving forward, which brings us back to the p5 while the p5 is priced well, looks great and performs as advertised. It does, unfortunately suffer from one big fall. It gets a little too toasty for my liking without a dedicated heatsink to cool it down the drive side at around 54 degrees at idle and jumped all the way up to 75 degrees, while under heavy load like during huge file transfers, while those temps aren't horrible By any means, they do make it one of the harder drives i've actually used, which is why i said earlier that, if you're buying a drive like this, i hope you're planning to pair it with a board that comes with its own dedicated m.2 heatsinks

 But first, let's get to know the p5. A little bit more, shall we, the p5 is a pcie gen, 3 nvme, so not quite as speedy as the new gen 4 drives that everyone's drooling over right now, but with quoted sequential, read and write speeds of 3 400 and 3 000 megabytes per second respectively. The boy ain't no slouch either the p5 range of ssds are all the m.2 2280 variety meaning the drives are 22 millimeters wide and 80 millimeters long, and they come in capacities ranging from 250 gigabyte all the way up to 2 terabytes, the p5s also ship with Crucial'S beefy new proprietary, 3rd gen, 6, core controllers and price wise

 I tried 3 different calls and two chat sessions, aweful experience.  I know that Windows 10 disabled hardware encryption by default a year or so ago but I also know the workarounds using GPO. Nothing worked, Bios was set for UEFI, and a lot of other settings and registry changes made. Result is not to use HW encryption on this hardware, Even if I got it working, I doubt its reliability and sustainability

I purchased the SSD based on the claimed spec and performance. After fitting on a new i5 desktop system, I ran a few disk testing utilities and found that the claimed performance is way exaggerated. Its about 50-70% of the numbers claimed. I am not a gamer and don't need intensive I/O so, I'll move on
