What's the point of 8" tablets?

So when I use my Mi Pad 4 with a 8" screen the difference is significant. I use it for web browsing, reading magazines and reading books with lots of pictures, graphics/diagrams and the like (like many technical/programming books). For text only books of course an e-reader like the Kindle is much better than a tablet; but where there is any kind of picture or program language listing I use the tablet.
