 I've included several images of the tip before and after tinning.  The temperature control starts of at 200*C and it was close at 195-198*C at the peak. The usual range at 200*C is from 278-290*C. I measured this with my Kaiweets multimeter which had a temperature sensor setting to within +/- 1*C

Poor design

  The handle gets hot after using it for a while. This isn't uncommon for cheap irons, but it's annoying.  The temperature control is sometimes different than where you last set it when you turn the iron back on-- only by a few degrees, but it's still weird. Works great, not exactly heavy duty.

 The problem is that according to my laser thermometer, this product is completely way off base on the temperature it says its providing. It's nowhere near the claimed nearly 900º on the display. but the degree of granularity for adjustment is pretty good. Clean tip doesn't pit easily like the last crappy iron I bought from someone else

Excellent customer service sent me a letter that the tip cleaner was missing a week or so after getting the iron. The letter said various customers had complained the item was missing over the last week of orders so enclosed was the tip cleaner I didn't yet realize was missing and the note went on to say if you weren't missing the item then accept the spare as a free gift. Wow!  Now about the iron. Very precise temp control it would seem

 That said, the inaccurate temperature display is a downer as well as the fact that I had to go through two irons and two customer service calls to get one that will stay on and working so, I have to revisit my rating on this product. It gets only 4 stars because of those two issues.

Easy to use and fast heat time...

I have purchased 3 of these. I purchased the first one after my Weller LCD temperature controlled iron would not maintain any temperature after about a year, just out of warranty. The Weller was much more expensive so I purchased this unit instead of replacing the Weller. The first unit worked great for about a year and the temperature became unstable

 All in all I find this to be the best temperature controlled iron available at this price point, given I've had the same issues with more expensive units. I'm very pleased with it and recommend purchase with the caveats mentioned above.

 I did purchase some Hakko Soldering tips that do work with this model with different tip types. The iron cord or heating element cannot be (easily) replaced as the cord is hardwired into the soldering station / iron and there is no disconnect, supporting this to be a "throwaway unit" if it breaks. All in all I find this to be the best temperature controlled iron available at this price point, given I've had the same issues with more expensive units. I'm very pleased with it and recommend purchase with the caveats mentioned above

As a novice I don't really have the qualifications or credentials to review this soldering station with authority. However, as such I can tell you it's incredibly easy to use, does everything it claims to do and yet still exceeds the expectations set by those claims.  The iron itself is small enough to do precision work (again, precision for a novice), it heats up and adjusts to new heat settings insanely fast and is good about maintaining those temps. Functionally the thing is a wonder and quite reasonably priced

Does what it claims, beyond expectation

  As far as the item, the wide base on the stand is sturdy so there isn't a risk of it tipping over and starting a fire! The iron gets up to temp quickly, and does a pretty good job at retaining that temperature. I really like the precise temperature control, as opposed to the simple dial of cheaper models. All-in-all, I am very happy with this purchase.  I only have 2 qualms that knocked off a star for me
