While many of the above keyboards are packed full of extra hardware features like USB passthroughs or volume knobs, the Wooting two HE takes gaming keyboards in a different direction. Like the SteelSeries Apex Pro lineup, the Wooting two HE also uses proprietary magnetic switches that allow you to control the pre-travel distance. However, it takes this technology a step further by widening the range. You can set your pre-travel distance from an ultra-sensitive 0.1mm (so don't breathe too hard, or you'll activate the key) to a hard-bottomed 4.0mm (if you want to work out your fingers).

As an added plus, the companion software has a web-based version, so you don't have to load your PC up with bloatware to customize your keyboard. There are tons of software features to play around with, including not one but two multi-input features, handy for fast-paced games like Valorant and Fortnite, where every millisecond counts. On top of it all, this keyboard has an Analog Mode, which mimics the inputs of a controller, making it a great choice if you're also a fan of racing games or flight simulators. Before vs after joining this subreddit

 I had no issues with the ABS keycaps that came with my review sample, but for just a $10 premium, I think it makes sense to step up to PBT, a plastic that generally has a reputation for being more durable.

When trying to play Deathloop, I found that the game refused to allow me to use a mouse for aiming while it thought I was moving with an analog stick. And I had a similar problem in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Wooting is aware of these issues, but unfortunately, it’s something that would need to be addressed by individual game developers to fix. Look out for games that support “simultaneous input” if you want an indication that they’ll work with the Wooting Two HE, but be aware there are many out there where this won’t be an option without jumping through significant hurdles

The Wooting Two HE achieves more or less what it says it’ll achieve. Its keys are capable of registering analog inputs, and its software makes it easy to remap them to function as gamepad controls. It delivers on its promises. 

Naturally, things get a lot more interesting once you download Wootility, Wooting’s companion software that’s available across Windows, Mac, and Linux. It’s this that lets you get the most out of the keyboard’s analog switches, which it handles alongside other more traditional keyboard companion app tasks like setting up custom lighting schemes with the keyboard’s RGB backlighting or remapping its layout.

The ecosystem isn’t quite ready

This Razer Huntsman board was actually pretty innovative when it was released - it featured a very minimalist design for Razer products at the time and featured Razer's new optoelectric switches. I'm going to be reviewing the "Tournament Edition" - which is just the Tenkeyless version of the board. The appearance of the board is pretty simple and elegant, with a low profile key-plate that exposes the switches, decent quality Double-Shot PBT keycaps, and very little of the GAMER aesthetic that Razer used to be known for - with only a simple, and honestly kind of sexy "Razer" printed above the arrow keys. The backlighting is not very bright

 The appearance of the board is pretty simple and elegant, with a low profile key-plate that exposes the switches, decent quality Double-Shot PBT keycaps, and very little of the GAMER aesthetic that Razer used to be known for - with only a simple, and honestly kind of sexy "Razer" printed above the arrow keys.  After a while I got used to it, but really, there's no reason the actuation point has to be so high.  The other complaint I have is concerning Synapse, which is Razer's proprietary software that it uses to control its various peripherals. Synapse is a monstrously bloated program that borders on spyware. If you want to customize keybindings or lighting at all, you're going to need to download it

Thankfully, the keyboard works fine without it, but any customization is out of the picture unfortunately

Great keyboard for gaming

 Going into it I knew this was a sensitive gaming keyboard, therefore my eating of this item reflects only my experience and I do not feel that I was lied upon. After over a year of usage, it is clear to me that this keyboard is for folks that are able to handle sensitive key presses, but that is not me.  I'd like to say that, despite my observation of it's flaws, it is a one sexy looking and durable keyboard that sustained hours of abuse without any issues. I do love the looks of it and the quality it provides to my minimalistic setup on my desk and for the price there are only few options out there to get such quality

 The black matte design of the chassis keeps the lighting muted, which is personal taste, but I personally very much prefer it. The legends have mostly uniform lighting, but the Function row and some of the larger keys have a little dark spot near the center for most of them. Maybe this can be improved on later designs, but overall it is a huge step in the PBT+POM design for backlit capable PBT keycaps.  The only real downsides, and there are two of them, are that the chassis itself is plastic

Razer, I feel very weird saying this - you should be extraordinarily proud of the products you've put out in the past few months. Between the Viper, Viper Ultimate, the Tartarus Pro (assuming we fix the stuck input bug), and now the capstone being your Huntsman TE, you've created an exceptional, premium and worthwhile suite of products that even the enthusiast community will appreciate. I got the Huntsman TE out of sheer curiosity to be completely honest. I had full intent of returning the keyboard once I had messed around with it but I am retiring my custom builds for this keyboard because Razer ticks so many important boxes with this keyboard that I feel like you've become an entirely different beast

 No gaudy design here, and the only manufacturer logo here is an incredibly subtle Razer logo in a slightly polished aluminium relief right above the nav cluster. It reminds me, very much, like a Massdrop CTRL board with less light everywhere.
