So that might have looked like a lot of compression, but it sounded really good, and the compressor let go perfectly so that that soft stuff was able to come to the forefront and really shine. Now let's listen to it with it off and you'll see what I'm talking about. So with it off, you'll notice that you can barely hear the quiet part and the whole thing has just lost all of its vibe and mojo

 First, I'm going to switch over to limit mode. This ups the ratio and is going to make it compress harder, and as you can see from the waveforms, I've got a very dynamic vocal performance here, I'm going to need that extra juice to get the job done here. In addition to switching over to limit mode, I want to adjust the high frequency emphasis screw. Turning this counterclockwise makes this compressor a little bit more sensitive to high frequencies and a little less sensitive to lows, and that's really going to smooth out the compression characteristics for this vocal

 So you'll notice that this compressor is taking these soft piano chords and it's elongating the decay, pulling them forward, giving them a really nice presence that I like. So as you've heard, the LA-2A leveler collection gives you three easy to use tools that add warmth, character and presence to any source.  simple to operate, sounds great on everything, we're talking drums, bass, guitar, vocals,

 So let's start out by taking a look at the LA-2A Silver.

 This version of the compressor delivers a modern sound, but with that classic tube warmth

 In this example, we're going to see how room mics can have sheen and richness and harmonic

 detail added to them that really brings them to life, so let's take a listen.

 So you'll notice right away that the kick and snare get leveled out, but that ride comes

 forward too, and the overall sound just gets glued together, there's a certain sheen to

 it, and a polish, and I'm just sort of pulling out all of the goodness of those tracks.

 So now that I have that room mic sounding really good, let's go ahead and add another

 instance of the LA-2A Silver, this time on the drum subgroup itself.

 The goal here is going to be to add a lot of cohesion and some movement to all of my

 So I'm going to start with the factory default, and I'm going to adjust the peak reduction

 until I get the amount of squish that I want out of this compressor, maybe a little bit

 of makeup gain to compensate for it, and let's give that a listen.
