Thinking about replacing some rather ratty undies that made it through college and beyond, but probably shouldn't have. I'm willing to spend a bit more money on them this time around, but also would expect them to be a somewhat more durable and comfortable. Boxer briefs style, and they need to be able to handle my workouts/runs (be breathable, flexible), as well as sitting on my butt all day working online), and stand up to hot water washes and heat drying (germ/smell killing).

Need recommendation: Good men's underwear

 But it is not a good value - over $30 for One pair of undershorts. FYI - sizing is off. I had to get XL for my 36" waist whereas normally it would be L or M.

what's up with a lot of people packing less underwear than necessary to change daily?

I get that on travels over a week you'll be comfortable to do some laundry and save on piece count. But I often see people here traveling for 3-5 days, only packing 2-3 pieces of underwear. Are you so minimalist, that you wear your boxers longer than one day? Are you really managing to find time for washing and drying on such short trips? Why the hazzle with washing anyway, packing 1-2 more pieces of underwear does not take up significantly more space. 

I'm confused, and looking forward to be enlightend :)

Underwear - Travel duration imbalances

Really not comfortable at all, to me. Could be my build, don’t know. Tried a couple days and couldn’t stand them.

Okay, I know everyone swears by Eofficio boxer briefs, but I find them to be only slightly better than generic department store underwear at 10x the price. Compression shorts? Now we are going the the complete opposite direction of comfort. 

I want SEPARATION, where my testicles do not touch my legs and can hang free yet somewhat supported without being squished into my perineum.

I already have ALMOST the perfect underwear. They are La Pasas short inseam boxer-briefs, that have quite a bit of stretch, and basically provide comfortable separation, support, and breathability. The only issue is that they are modal, which is a fabric made from wood fiber, that has properties similar to cotton, though softer. I don't believe that make this particular model anymore, but I found it here for reference. Now, I still just like in these, and if I get wet, I can always just take off my underwear if it's too cold, but this is not ideal, so I am looking for a similar fit in synthetic. 

So far I have not found much. There are plenty of synthetic "Pouch" or "Bulge" style underwear, mostly marketed to gay men, or maybe the kink community, but these are very hit and miss with comfort and sizing. I have tried many, mostly from China, and usually, the pouch area is too small or does not stretch enough, or the cut of the waist or legs is not comfortable for hiking, where they are good for showing off the shape of your body, but not great for active movement. 

I have tried Seperatec and Sheath, and neither is any good. 

Am I alone here? Do most other people like underwear that I find uncomfortable, or do people just not know any better, or have never tried more revealing(comfortable) designs? I feel like most designs either ignore the fact that men have external genitals or actively try to conceal them because of some ridiculous social norm. 

Help me.

Does actual comfortable underwear for men exist? I will use medically correct terms here, so get over it.

  These AIRism boxer briefs don't quite have the structure of something like the Saxx designs, but they still keep everything in place well enough for comfort. And my wife approves of both.

These are very pleasantly smooth and breathable, which makes them comfortable whether I'm sitting at my desk or biking to work. That's a big deal for me, as I've had quite a few styles of underwear that fit right but the material actually made me bleed when I biked even just a couple miles in them.  These AIRism boxer briefs don't quite have the structure of something like the Saxx designs, but they still keep everything in place well enough for comfort. And my wife approves of both

Yes. Just around the time I discovered carry-on-only travel, I started realizing how much space 2 weeks of my thicker cotton underwear took up.  After much research and trials, I ended up switching to Uniqlo Airism Boxer briefs. I came around to the idea of needing only enough for 1 week but because of the lightness of the fabric, I saw that I could still take 2 weeks-worth and be no worse off

Was just reading another underwear post about how many to take and didn't even think if they were male/female/other till someone pointed out how female underwear is so small anyway.

That got me thinking and lead to this.

Have any males out there (or people wearing more male style underwear) changed their underwear style to suit one bagging more.

Like I know male things are a thing, but I don't know of I would be comfortable wearing them... But damn they would take a lot less space up.

 Some other boxer briefs don’t allow this, as the fabric and fit are too tight in this spot. That isn’t the case here, which is great.

 And there’s a functional aspect at play here, too: since the fabric is almost silky and thus has a very low amount of friction, the pants you wear over these Uniqlo boxer briefs won’t pull your underwear all over the place throughout the day.

 You get the great combination of being supported and held in place with the comfort and mobility of wearing shorts. Briefs can be too tight, boxers too loose, and going commando is just lunacy. The middle ground is right where you want to be.
